Paul J
By way of interrupting my other flow of old pics, I came across these the other week when I did my lost lot of slide scans. One or two exciting types as you get to the end... DH 84 Dragon. PR9 Canberra and JP4. One of three P-51 Mustangs. Two whichge were in film paint work for Memphis Belle. This one, not sure of the ID. ...and this one. I think this one was the one from Scandinavia. And this one.Making a rare outing from Biggin, Doug Arnolds N314BG. Bell P-63 Kingcobra. This one went down in France sadly. Grumman Tigercat. Auster 6 in RCAF colours. Beech C-45 in RCAF colours but with US civvy reg. B-25 Mitchell N1042B. Camera ship for Memphis Belle and other film work BUT NOT the Battle of Britain one!!!!!!! One of these. Buchon as ME109. Zero-vard ??? Or Harv-ero.?? Eight turning and growling Shack. So ladles and jellyspoons..... running in from your left...... The only time I ever saw it in the air!!! G-BJHS Sandringham. Making a few passes before deaprting to cloe the show. Now residing at Kermit Weeks Fantasy of Flight at Polk City Florida where I was able to have a walk through back in 2001. The week of 9/11!!!! Hope you have enjoyed these. I have more West Malling onesto show. Includes the Howard 500 .A conversion of the Lockheed Lodestar among other nice aeroplanes.

jenko
Those were the days. West Malling did put on some great shows. I seem to remember the commentator making a remark about the amount of water on the runway and was it possible for the Sandringham to land. Remember the wooden flats used in the TV series "We'll meet again " (think that's what it was called ) of B17's behind the runway. Thanks for sharing. fightersweep
Hi Paul; Many thanks for posting these! I remember the 1989 show really well. The Sandringham was fantastic, and was that the year Sally B did the flypasts firing lots of blank .50 cal rounds at the Buchon? I hold the Great Warbirds Air Display very close to my heart. The 1983 show was the first proper warbird show that I went to at the age of 13, and despite the awful weather on the Sunday, the show has stuck with me ever since. I was lucky enough to pick up the 83 show poster off of eBay recently. I can't wait to get it framed. The Gary Numan VHS of the show is well worth picking up too! Top memory from the show for me was Stefan Karwowski flying Stephen Grey's Bearcat...a stunning display!! I've currently got a stash of kits that I'm using to build the line up from the 1983 show. The only kit I'm missing is a Fiat G.46....still looking for that one! I've got the ball rolling and recently finished Piston Provost G-AWPH and Stephen Grey's Bearcat. Next in the build pile is John Watt's Pilatus P.2. Thanks again for posting up these memories....do you have any photos of the 1983 show? Best regards; Steve PS: "Ding Hao was the OFMCs G-HAEC, which of course ended up in Germany and totaled at Duxford by a Skyraider!
