You might be confusing that incident, with one that happened near my house: back in the late 70s/ early 80's a United DC-8 did in fact run out of fuel while holding and crashed in wooded area east of Portland Int'l. There was anther incident about 15 years before, when a United DC-8 accidentally landed at Portland-Troutdale airport. How he managed to get the 2 airports confused and get the thing safely stopped in 4000 feet of runway is beyond me. david Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
