Fairey Firefly Mk V - Airfix 1/72 RFI

She's turned out reet fine! Well worth all the effort! We know from your other builds that you have a slight masochistic tendency so I'm sure you're more than happy that she fought back a little!

Another fine addition to the ceiling Ced.

You bashed an oldish kit into submission once again.

Simon.

Thanks Simon - she'll look good next to the Sea Fury :)

Looks great aced, those stripes had more wrinkles than Nora Batty's stockings but you seem to have got it sorted. Another completion in the time it's taken me to open the box!

Thanks BB - I now know how dodgy it is to use old transfers on a model with needle sharp rivets! Another lesson learned :)

She turned out a beauty in the end Ced, nice work mate B)

Thanks Stew - glad you like her. I must admit that old Airfix and new modelling standards don't go together that well; nostalgia's not what it used to be! :)

Thanks Steve - it's that box art isn't it, so evocative! :)

Wow Ced it looks fabulous, you've more than done it justice! :goodjob: I've been so busy recently that I've not had a chance to even look at mine. I've just got back from Cornwall (managed to pop into T7 Models, great little shop) so only just switched on the computer. I'll enjoy watching the Hornet progress as well. Bravo, keep the FAA theme going!

Thanks Benedikt - kind of you :)

Thanks Knight_Flyer - nice of you to say so. I agree it would be good to see a new kit :)

Hi Phil - thanks for the kind comments and even more thanks for sending me the kit. Glad you like it!

Built this when I was a kid. Nice to see one again.

Firefly's a good looking aircraft too.

That's a terrific result from this old kit.  Having built it myself, also wheels up and wings out, I would never have thought one could achieve such a good final product as this.

It looks so very crisp and smart Ced, what a lovely job .

A really very attractive aircraft, your paint and masking work is just superb. You built  and finished it in the time it took me to open a tin of paint, stir it and part paint an interior :D!!!

Incredible pace!

:goodjob:

Thanks OT, very kind of you. I'm less wary of old kits now (having built a few) but, like the new kits, there are some 'dogs' out there.

This kit is not one of them!
