Alex1978
Sorry to hear about the drawback.I know very well how that feels...But I am sure all your work will pay off in the end and a superb result will emerge.

I'm just hoping the patch up job goes without drawbacks.....
Romeo Alpha Yankee
That is unfortunate Phil, You will find you will have to build up the Mr Sufacer in layers as it tends to shrink a little. Overall it is looks great though!
phil1
after plenty of applications of mr surfacer the crack has now been sealed and repainted. quite pleased with the result as this could have been an ongoing problem seems when one problem is fixed another develops as I'm having real difficultly with the problematic area on the edge of the wing. the plastic is obviously very weak . milliput, mr surfacer and even feeding superglue into the crack were some of the ways i have tried to build it up here ive tried a few sprays of tamiya undercoat over the working area engines are almost complete one fits on the wing perfectly, the other is sitting a good 30 degrees to high so that will need adjusted , i'll worry about that once i get nearer the finish line started applying decals to the fuselage. I'm concerned about the tail where the decal meets the curved reinforced area at the bottom of the tail. I may paint this area gold and order a second set of decals. to get a more precise fit i will make a paper outline of the decal and use it as a template can't understand the cockpit decal by ascensio......it came in 6 separate pieces! luckily their transfers are good quality and give you ample time to adjust their position the doors against the fuselage should be white, once i've found some appropriate doors I'll see if i can apply them over the top so i can still keep the detail inside and below the door some outdoor picks - the gold looks more impressive against a natural backdrop finishing touches will include adding some half open and closed windows to add a bit of realism. the cockpit windows are 3-d but the passenger windows (from the same set) are plain ran out of alclad so the leading edge wing will need a mini respray despite me adding decals (oops) Edited May 20, 2017 by phil1 spelling error and missing photo

phil1
time of crack on with the tail. these transfers are quite rigid and as they are designed for the 787 Im going to have to get creative. the 'hump' has been painted gold, its nowhere near the same colour as the transfer but its the nearest thing humbrol do. area looks a bit dirty but i will clean it up before adding the decal ive made a template to roughly mark what part of the decal needs removed decal is ready to be applyed a decent fit. a slight contrast of gold but in full light there will be less difference this part was a lot harder to apply, i had to make a template of the stab root which was almost impossible as its not flat! wish i'd had a transfer for this area now and the original kit included one, instead i've had to do it the hard way (again) but dare i say worth the effort. theres a small section that needs to go in the white gap to tidy it up and that should be it for that side. I'm awaiting another set of decals (hurry up!) for the other side as i ruined it trying to apply it over the now painted section

Romeo Alpha Yankee
That looks great Phil, did you consider using the leftover decals to go over the reinforcing hump or do you think that would have got too messy? None the less I think this option has worked out really well.
