Top pulling

My thanks Crisp. It's not without a small measure  of relief that I had a look at them on the bench earlier before heading in to work. :phew:

Of course there remains plenty of scope for a cock-up whilst tidying and trimming to fit....

Well done Mr. Baron, it looks like you have produced a very usable BT there :clap2:!

Regarding your filming; I hope it goes well.

I heard that Hugh Grant, and Kristin Scott-Thomas are already confirmed, with Mike Newell back in the director's chair :photo:.

Not as catchy a title as 'Notting Hill', but 'Four Pullings and a Beavertail' is sure to be a hit!

Thanks TT!

If only the filming were that glamorous.

'Four Pullings and a Beavertail'?

By any chance did you see the prequel that the Daily Mail called 'this summer's feel-good enema sensation''?

'Four Weddings and a Funnel'...

Wonderful bit of catching up there Tony. You seem to have done a stunning job of that that buck! All that pulling eh? B) Bravo my good man.

Really chugging along now. Looking forward to see how you get the detailing done. All I can think about is sanding at the moment. -_-.

My thanks for that Johnny.

I do hope that is from significantly drier premises that you now write sir.:nodding:

Chimay-away on that Bison Cc. Would love to see that! :nodding:

Excellent work! Nice :).

I still can't understand why you split the thing vertically, even after your explanation

I probably didn't make it clear enough Alex - if the split was horizontal (upper/lower, as I'd originally planned), then the cut would run along each side right through where there are two port holes and a doorway on either side to cut out later. I didn't want the seam to be weakened by being penetrated in three places on each side.

I've just cottoned on.

Rivet decals. Positive rivet decals.

Splendid idea :thumbsup2:.  There are some good examples of NMF models out there, looking rather marvellous with these in place.

That penny took a very long time to drop indeed. It's the Paracodol, it really is .

Things are going full circle; I remember in my teens, painting an Airfix B-25, admitedly extremely over-riveted, silver first. Then olive drab, then sanding the drab off here and there, so that the rivets would show through; a first attempt at weathering.

Some modelling books would suggest sanding positive rivets off, applying metal foil, then putting negative rivers back in *one-by-one* with a pointy thing :o :hourglass:.

Now we're looking at a little popularity for the positive rivet again.

Good stuff, I like them a lot :).

Go on Mr. Baron, it will look superb.

Best regards

The mad riveter (unmasked).

You've seen Crisp's munificent Sea King rivettage that currently defines the true state of the art in this area Tony?

:Tasty:

Just as I buy a rivetting pounce he changes the rules, or rather, opens a new era of obsession exploration.

A modern-day Frobisher no less.

I'm therefore looking towards the Northwest Passage HGW as a potential route:

http://hgwmodels.cz/en/30-172-scale

0.6mm and 0.7mm - presumably this is the spacing between each rivet?

I may need Paracodol soon as well...

Two people, one with a rivet gun,

the other with the reaction block ,

separated by the aircraft skin.

In a noisy hangar, trying to hear

each other, so can't wear ear defenders.

There's lots to do in Canberra. Admittedly it's not as lively as Edinburgh, Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow etc, but it beats quite a few places I've erm, been.

Being able to visit the home of this thing on any day of the week for around 70p makes me very happy:

Goodness me, but I'm getting to loathe, hate and detest editing on an ipad. :puke:

Anyway.

Thank you for that, yer Baronshipness, that is a very satisfactory explanation for dimwit here. And I don't have Mr Tiger's excuse reason, either. It's all that sawdust, you see.

Nice photo there from Mr Tiger, makes a good excuse to pop down to Canburrow to pay him a visit :).

Did I say that I am coming to loathe typing things in forums on the ipad? Suckfari, well, sucks.

With the side by side split of the molding approach Tony, won't the underside upwards opening door be much harder to do, and also create a weaker seam join, weaker than the side doors and portholes?

Or are you doing it all closed (unlikely I hope!)

Many thanks for your very kind offer, and PM inboundeth!

I really must go to Specsavers. I wondered how one went about mowing Wessex's...

And I can think of much worse things to spend 70p on Tony! What else is in there?

I've modded mine Alex:

  1. Take photo of favourite drinks coaster (or download an image of one you like from the internest).
  2. Open up said image in gallery app to full screen.
  3. Put iPad on table before you and place long cool drink upon image of coaster, ruminating upon how much cooler the drink is than an overpriced jab-slab.
  4. For longer drinking sessions, a slideshow of alternating coasters can add a touch of class to proceedings.

I dare say five different modellers would dice it five different ways James.

I just didn't fancy having to cut portholes and doorframes into seams and am more content to simply rejoin the two halves of the upwards opening (did we ever work out what the correct name for that part was btw?) door as the lesser evil. It also means I can stick the port and starboard sides of the rear fuselage on to the respective sides of the kit prior to closing up in order to continue on the existing interior wall detailing.

I'm conscious I may not be explaining it all that lucidly but you should see what I mean as the drama unfolds...

...and yes, it will most definitely be open!

No sweat on the PM btw, just let me have the coordinates and I can programme them into the delivery drone....

Sorry Tony, I had missed a previous post (the one with the Christmas card C-119J scene) explaining the reasoning!

Looking forward to the unfolding, err unfolding!

@AlexN, I'm really curious (ask anyone!), your avatar, is that a Marshall Islands Arctic Possum laying next to a Bassoon, or do my eyes deceive me?
