Tupolev TU-95 Bear-D 1:200 Dragon

Recommended Posts

I bought this kit ages ago to make it part of my planned RAF Phantom Black Mike QRA diorama.  However in need of some light relief and a break from etch and accuracy I had a couple of hours spare and started to throw this together last night.

I then thought it would be appropriate for this GB as the Bear-D was defiantly around in the 1970's so here he is.

Sorry for no sprue shot, you'll just have to take my word for the fact it wasn't already started, and the cockpit green is Mr.Hobby Emerald which will do, the windows are so small there is no point doing anything inside.

Having built this kit about 20-odd years ago I recall it went together without any fuss and made for a relaxing project. Wasn't there also a B-52 to match?

Indeed - several. I have the NB-52 with X-15, it's awesome (and also on the shelf of doom though at least I still possess all the parts. From memory there was also a B-52D and H.

Hasegawa have also released a number of 1/200th scale kits of military aircraft or airliners serving with military forces eg. AC-130H Hercules gunship & Italeri  edition of Dragon B-52 in the B-52G version. Hannants are currently showing 15 or 16 military a/c in stock including several Zvezda WW2 aircraft.

Okay, she fell together and was a pleasure to build, a real mojo restorter.

Simple paint, Humbrol Metal Cote aluminium & the brushed on Tamiya acrylics for the black and grey areas.

I didn't bother to do too much to the props as it will be posed in flight so they are just a 'blur' anyway.

Enjoy.

Thanks, as I say she is there to provide a background for a planned diorama so this is her only shot at being centre of attention!.

Good job at a fast pace! The second photo looks as if it should be peeling away from a couple of Sea Harrier or Lightning sent up as escort.
