Pinback
Hi - If you are planning a trip Down Under you can't go too far wrong by coinciding it with the Australian International Airshow at Avalon. Its a cross between Farnborough and Fairford- and the weather is more reliable Highlight for me this year were the Singapore Air Force F-15s. I only have a little Canon so forgive some of the quality First sight through the gate... An immaculate Harrier T4 ! (XW271) Singapore Air Force F 15 and KC 135 RAAF Hawk Piaggio Avanti The only airworthy Lockheed Hudson The whistling Boomerang The only airworthy de Havilland Drover with Constellation in the background Lockheed Constellation Sopwith Snipe, Sopwith Pup and Tiger Moth Cessna Bird Dog and one of three Austers Meteor F 8 Grumman Albatross An 124 T 28 KC 30 and two Hornets P-8 A Poseidon with weapons bay open A formation of Beech King Air 350s ! It was good to see some decent biplane aerobatics Fire fighting RJ 85- it just doesn't look right but I am sure it does the job Its a fairly hands on airshow - this year I was able to get into a USAF KC 135 boom operator position and close access to the B-1 was good too Edited March 10, 2017 by Pinback typo
Latinbear
What a great event and a lovely set of images too! Thanks very much for sharing these. Any idea how that Harrier ended up in Australia? Getting that close to a B1 at Fairford is something we can only dream about.
Jinxman
Lovely shots - thanks. Funny that the B1 at Ostrava NATO Days last year was the same - you could get right underneath it and have a good look into the weapons and u/c bays, etc. cheers

Hi Latinbear- XW271 has had a bit of a charmed life. It ended up on a fire training dump at Predannack in Cornwall before Advanced VTOL Technologies took ownership and transported it to Australia in 2015. Although it is unlikely to fly again it is hoped to get it to ground running and taxiable condition. nuuumannn
Very cool, the USAF KC-135 and Singapore F-15Es has come over from New Zealand after the RNZAF 80th Anniversary show. Might head over to Avalon next year.
