I actually started this a couple of months ago, but I hit a problem - my particular kit had been given 2 starboard cockpit sidewalls, and no port sidewall. So I send an email so special hobby, who sent me a replacement. Actually they sent me a full set of replacement resin parts, many thanks @petr@SpecialHobby.

Unsurprisingly starts with the cockpit

Wired the instruments

Starboard Sidewall

The lesser spotted Port sidewall

Assembled the fuselage with the rear cockpit bulkhead

P1010726_zpsgxqqcbbp.jpg

Assembled the turret basket

P1010727_zps1wrojv58.jpg

Constructed the turret fairing, filled and sanded back

P1010728_zps0qlijo2d.jpg

Filled and sanded the fuselage - it will need some rescribing later

Finally dipped the clear parts - test fit seems reasonable, will need some filling at the bottom, but we'll see

A good start Peter. Classic Airframes kits seem to have a bit of a reputation for being difficult to build, but I love the choice of subjects. I have a Blenheim in the stash so will follow your progress with interest.

Nick.

Today's work - first joined the clear halves with 5 min epoxy

P1010733_zpsevbt5y0r.jpg

Added the cockpit floor

P1010734_zpstyytl2cv.jpg

So the assembled canopy

P1010735_zpswg0emdtg.jpg

But it needs some filling at the bottom ( or I could have been the top but it's easier to sort out on the bottom)

P1010736_zpslsomrpdj.jpg

Masked off the windows

P1010737_zps4ozrctu9.jpg

Added some plasticard on the inside, then filled the bottom

P1010738_zpsb4xcqyd6.jpg

Then on with a coat of Grey-Green

Today's work, first painted and assembled the cockpit

P1010741_zpsacotxgj3.jpg

P1010742_zpsrvpvptcy.jpg

P1010743_zpszzcdkypq.jpg

Then glued the canopy in place with epoxy again

P1010745_zpszovleq91.jpg

And added the gunner's compartment

P1010746_zpsdkfnfchy.jpg

Out with the P38 - the canopy has the same issues as the original version I built, doesn't really fit at the bottom or the port side, and the turret needs blending in as well

P1010748_zpsdie9q1c9.jpg

Then finally sanded back - lots of sanding :-)

There's a lot of lovely detail there. The clear front fuselage looks scary to deal with but I guess most of the inside is covered up with the resin sidewalls. Looking forward to more, particularly the engines and cowlings.

Adrian

Today's work - first made up the other wheel well, and primed with black primer

P1010759_zps2dicvdcx.jpg

Then added all the individual collector pipes from the cylinders to the collector rings

P1010760_zps8cvsdclc.jpg

Finally painted up the U/C Bays and weathered them down

Today's work - started by painting and weathering the engines

P1010764_zpsaqdjwjtp.jpg

Then lots of sanding and dryfitting, but the wings are on, with the wheel wells in place. Needed a lot of Mr Surfacer 500 at the wing roots for the gaps. Will need some more work later as well.

P1010766_zpsbl8hu1pf.jpg

P1010767_zpsgdmxixrg.jpg

Finally masked off the engines

Today's work - first added the engines after cleaning down the wing roots. Needed to add some engine mounts to the front of the nacelles to get them to fit

P1010769_zps1ypmtqr7.jpg

P1010770_zpshztongnv.jpg

Then added the navigation lights and landing lights - first cut out the lights, then glue some clear sprue in place (having drilled and put some colour in place)

P1010771_zpsryoli9nw.jpg

then sand it back and polish

Today's work - first added the Tropical Filters and the Frazer Nash FN-54 Turret

P1010775_zpsnrtnsnrd.jpg

Then masked off the turret glazing and attached with Blutak

P1010776_zpshdzzdtpq.jpg

Added the resin Pitots (with wire replacement for the end of the main pitot)

P1010777_zpsdk0mubxx.jpg

Finally a coat of primer over the top - there's some work to do around the turret and on the bottom but nothing major
