Paul J
To start the request from a list elsewhere, here are some Northolt ones ... but not repeating those previously posted. From the A40 lay by Sept 29 1974. Indian Connie. BG583 And these two West German UH-1D 7170 and 7175. The visit here was very brief after spending most of the day at Heathrow. And on other occasional visits the above and below. All taken on my Zenit E from 1974 to around the late 1970's. The Transall, above, departed on the angled runway to the norm. In next pics you'll see the main runway lights. and note the prop vortices!! It was a damp day!! And on a foggy day...VC-118 US Marines. Dutch SP-!3 Atlantic. It came in taxied back up and took off... Not many exciting ones I'm afraid but I thought worthwhile posting. Next time round a few civvies once I sorted out a selection from the vast amounts. Any preferences between airliners and light aircraft?

Britman
That Devon is a classic! As I have said before, it is a look over the fence that cannot be repeated. Thank you for sharing. Keith.

Gary West
One of the more obscure RAF bases - as basic as it was, loved that 125 scheme with the Navy cheat line!
RidgeRunner
Absolutely, Gary. If you wanted to see a plethora of home grown and foreign transports on a daily basis it was the place go. If I were to dig back through my BARG mags (I have them back to 1976) I could dig out countless rarities that have called in at Northolt. For example the Chilean DC-6 in 1972, which was a beauty. Of course it was always frequented by the regulars that primarily served the embassies on London, on "bag" or personnel runs. It was a great place. oggy4624
I was posted there for four years in 84, Great memories there, seeing that all the old buildings have been bulldozed.
LotusArenco
Nice one I’ve always had a soft spot for images of RAF Northolt, as I live so close, and drive past it every day. I still have a chuckle about the ‘WARNING Excessive aircraft noise likely’ signs on the A40 during the Olympics. Mart
Eric Mc
I saw that exact Marines C-118 at Dublin around the same time (August/September 1974). It was immaculate with a beautifully polished underside. You could read the stand numbers from the reflections off the bottom.
