Let me know what you think of the build and finished model? I found it to be quite fiddly, what with the small pieces and the fit not being great. You have put your finger on the main issue yourself, in that it would have been best to paint as you went along. If you can lay your hands on some copper coloured paint, it would be worth repainting the hull below the waterline in that colour as Victory's hull was sheathed in copper.
