Not taking into consideration the thickness of the plastic of the fuselage walls etc. Hence a lot of times you are having to remove vast quantities of plastic to make things fit. Still, there is the enjoyment of it I suppose, if you are that way inclined. Simon. Thanks Simon. Don't worry Steve, there's no way I'll be attempting to do anything complicated... and I certainly won't get anywhere near Bill's attention to detail or modelling skills. Welcome, thanks again for the kit (very kind) and do feel free to join in! Apology accepted Bill! I hope you don't mind me squashing up the quote of your post - it's getting crowded. I've started, in earnest. Here's Earnest and his pal Archie: Untitled by Ced Bufton, on Flickr Both have now been cleaned up and given their base coat of 'Ratskin Flesh'. I'm not sure if the pilot is wearing a onesie or if his trousers are a bit baggy, but I'll ignore that I think and get on with the model. Anyone else think that Archie looks a bit like Twiki and Dr Theopolis from 'Buck Rogers'? Oh alright, it's getting late so we DO need something to encourage sweet dreams: You've got to admire the wardrobe people and, of course, the cameraman. He even got her face in some shots. WOW Erin Grey!! (Tweekie was just a d@@k head)

BL should have been done by the trading standards people! And another thing, WTF is a Qashqai when its at home? and what has the word Clio got to do with cars or what on earth has polo either? HAMP man
Minor Escort, Midget Cherry Golf, Fiesta Scenic...sounds like Car Tourettes.. a good one for long journeys. Nothing more satisfying than making something that doesn't fit...fit. I can spend hours on a itty bitty piece of plastic metal or resin that no one will see fettling it into a space that it shouldn't go into. Probably why my models have a longer gestation period than an elephant and look about the same when produced. Thanks Hamp Man and Bill - car names eh? What about the Nova; sold badly in Spain. More Airwaves issues. Earnest has been fitted to his seat: Notice anything? With the control column fitted the IP won't fit Now in the spares box and yes, it does still close up: and you wouldn't see it, even if it was fitted (especially not on the ceiling). In other news, Alfie, Archie, or whatever his name is, you know, the cat-like scarecrow, has been dry-fitted. Note that Airwaves provide the Mark II 'over the shoulder' harness: Oh good grief... It doesn't even fit over the seat back, let alone the Nav. I think I may get the hammer and chisel out after all... and close this up as soon as possible.

HAMP man
I'd forgotten about the Airfix HKGMP (Hokey Kokey Gas Masked Pilot) and TJE (Thin Jimmy Edwards)! I see you've not painted the handlebar mustache on TJE....perhaps because it was a full set or nowt in the Fish heads? If this one is to go skywards then perhaps TJE could undergo minor shoulder lowering? CedB
Thanks Bill - gosh, you were up late! Me too, and it's not a good time to make modelling decisions; see below. Thanks Strickers - too late for a 'tache, sorry. The PE 'harness' was mithering me enough to stop me going to bed so I filed the PE at the back, inside, so that it fitted over the Nav TJE and seat. When I dry-fitted it fitted nicely so Rule #1 came into force (if it fits, glue it). Then I went too far and glued the top of the fuselage: Untitled by Ced Bufton, on Flickr Notice anything wrong with that? I normally fit the exhausts at the end (after weathering them and painting the rest) but these go in from the inside. Rats. I was going to use my favourite Mike Tyson quote here ("Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth") but then found a better one; "I'm a dreamer. I have to dream and reach for the stars, and if I miss a star then I grab a handful of clouds." So this morning I split the nose - not with a well placed punch, but carefully with a big #23 scalpel blade: "I could feel his muscle tissues collapse under my force. It's ludicrous these mortals even attempt to enter my realm." - Mike Tyson. Exhausts carefully inserted with tweezers, sideways, dropped into place and glued with TET: "As long as we persevere and endure, we can get anything we want."- Mike Tyson.

AdrianMF
That's a scary approach to inserting the exhausts "Prise apart the fuselage using the largest knife available then locate and cement parts 22 and 23." An alternative would have been to narrow down the back plate and wiggle them in from the outside, but where's the fun in that eh? Regards, Adrian
perdu
It might have been a worth while approach Adrian but if my addled memory serves there's not much plastic in the backing portion of the exhaust units, rather large chance of having it mislocate and head for Rattleville If it makes you feel any better slitting a slot like that is what I've done successfully many a time Ced Forgotten perpellors fer instance. Looks damned good now Blimey we'll soon be painting her and watching her head for the skies.

Biggles87
I think you should really move up to 1/48 now, it's much easier to bodge recalcitrant PE bit when you can actually get hold of them. bbudde
Hello Ced, nice fix on the ehausts. I like it how it turns out, although you can't see much of the cockpit detail with the pilots in and coloured in black. ( Was it worth for the extra effort?) (Not) good to see all the trouble wth the Airwaves etched frets. Good in that fact, that I struggeld twice with them and they won. I then thought , that I was the stupid with no ability for that sort of detail modelling. Eduard sets are so much better, but Airwaves had so many for old Airfix kits. Anyway nice job!
