roym Posted March 11, 2018 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Sorry to hijack but a friend of mine is building this and is having trouble getting the steering column to engage fully with the steering rack. It fits in ok but pops out as soon as you try to turn the steering wheel. I had a look and I suspect it's not really meant to be used as such, but if you turn the front wheels by hand the steering wheel does respond. It's a known issue which some builders have fixed by glueing washers over the hole in the rack or even lengthening the end of the rod. No doubt the issue will be fixed in later releases of the kit. This is a substantial casting and very good quality. Issue 61: Luggage compartment frame and catch. The two frames joined together. Issue 62: The windscreen and rear view mirror (although the actual car didn't have one) Issue 63: Luggage compartment cover/bonnet/hood, hinges and struts. Issue 64: The bonnet/hood/luggage compartment frame and LED for the compartment light. Issue 65: Luggage compartment interior, a tank and the spare wheel securing belt. The luggage compartment and bonnet/hood fitted to the frame. Issue 66: Lots of small fittings for the doors, catches and switches. There should have been 4 small springs but I only got 3 . This is the first time I've had a missing part, annoying. The wires go to small switches in the door catches. Issue 69: Driver's door panel, trim and mirror. Issue 70: Hinge panel, hydraulic strut and an unlisted block of black plastic. Quite a fiddly job hinging the completed door to the frame. Sadly it doesn't stay open without the aid of the black plastic block used as wedge. Issue 71: Parts for the passenger door. Issue 76: Right side front wing (or fender if you live across the pond) shown with the left one from way back in issue 2. These panels are held in by 4 screws and were very difficult to fit as the floor of the luggage compartment is in the way. Issue 77: Left side rear panel and a vent. Issue 78: Parts for the left rear panel, brackets and trim. The completed rear panel Issue 79: The right rear panel and vent. Issue 80: Trim and brackets for the right rear panel. Not too happy with the size of the gap between the door and rear panel. Issue 81: Engine surround and grille. Issue 82: Silver connectors, more wires, red storage units and cable. Issue 83: More detailing parts for the engine surround. Unfortunately two vital parts are missing, Blue Storage Units and Base. Eaglemoss have promised to include them in September's delivery, so at the moment I'm unable to complete this section. Disappointingly these parts are not forthcoming. Five emails and one phone call later I'm informed that delivery is 'unknown' so I've decided to press on with the build and attempt to fit the parts later. They'll be awkward to get to once the engine surround is fitted to the body. Issue 84: More parts for the engine bay. Issue 85: More parts for the engine bay. Issue 86: Roof panel parts. activexp Posted October 4, 2018 Author Share Posted October 4, 2018 Back again with the October update: issues 88, 89, 90, and 91 which is a biggy where the body is attached to the chassis. But first, this is how the model looks with the engine surround installed. Issue 88: Interior trim and seat belts. Roof panel fitted to the body (minus the interior trim, forgot to take a photo of that step!) Issue 89: Engine cover and hinges. Issue 90: Pipework for the engine and latches for the engine cover. Issue 91: Air filter parts, trim panels and more LED's. The assembled air filter with pipework from issue 90. Moving on to mounting the body to the chassis, probably the trickiest part of the build so far. The procedure involved laying the body on its side and connecting up the numerous cables, pushing some through slots front and rear. Then the body can be carefully lowered onto the chassis taking care that nothing gets trapped. The challenge was preventing the body from tipping over while hooking up the cables as it carries some serious weight. Eventually I managed to get it stable by wedging it with polystyrene blocks. The body is secured to the chassis with 8 screws which needed some effort as 2 holes didn't line up and required brute force. All appeared well. I estimate that the car now weighs 7 - 8 kilos, it's seriously heavy and just when I thought everything was OK, a front wheel fell off! Not that surprising as the hinge arrangement for flight mode is very under engineered, just one small screw holds the wheel to the hinge. Luckily nothing broken, the screw had pulled out and repairable. The good news is that all the lights work, so far. Quite a relief. Issue 92: Tail light LED''s for fitting to the rear section from issue 1. The entire rear section from issue 1 mounted to the body. All the lights work including the brake lights (not shown in the photo). Issue 93: Headlights, LED's, DMC grille and front section. Issue 94: Valance and grille. The completed front section with headlights, valance and indicator lights fitted. Wired up and mounted to the body. Issue 95: Front bumper, clips and lenses. Issue 98: Junction boxes and fibre optic 'filaments' for the front power coils. Issue 99: Front power coil frame and grilles. Issue 100: Cables for the front left side.
