RichO
I'm the type of person, that waiting for a subscription like this would drive me even more nuts. I just wouldn't be able to start a project like this without all the parts and then some. I have boxed model kits that have taken a couple of years to gather all the items for a build. Your patients is amazing on waiting for your parts, I bet it takes a year or longer to get all. ' can't wait to see what else is involved with this kit.
activexp
Well Rich, I don't have the patience to do your awesome scratch builds, that would drive me nuts. I look at it this way with partworks, a box of goodies to look forward to every month. Some subscribers wait until they have the full set of parts (like 2 years) before starting the build. I wouldn't have the patience for that and need to get stuck in straight away.

activexp
December Update: Issues 48 - 51. Wiring Frenzy! Issue 48: Wiring for the dashboard. This has to be the most fiddly and time consuming part of the build so far. Not happy with the supplied black cable ties, smaller ones would have been neater and more in scale. I replaced them with some white ones which I think are a little less obtrusive. Issue 49: More wiring. Issues 50 & 51 are the same: Seats. The seats are better than they look, soft vinyl outers with foam rubber padding. This completes the December build. I was hoping this would be the last of the wiring, but no, issue 52 has yet more of it

This completes the January release.

sharknose156
Hello Active. Tonight i went to a restaurant and saw a De Lorean in the parking. i regret not to have taken any pic. The color was very roughly polished aluminium. May be i can see it again soon in the area and take a pic for you. Cheers . Sam
activexp
Hi Sam, the De Lorean bodywork is actually polished stainless steel and the kit parts reproduce this quite accurately as far as I can tell from the front wing.
activexp
February 2018 Update: issues 56 - 59. Issue 56, The PCB and more wiring. Issue 57, Upper Bulkhead, light board and other details. Issue 58, The Flux Capacitor, some pipes and LED's Rather basic, it has to be said, and the visible screws are totally wrong. Issue 59, The fan and detail parts for the upper bulkhead. The completed upper bulkhead. and from the rear with LED's. The next step involved plugging in all the various connectors for the cab to the PCB, a very fiddly task. I was relieved to find that everything worked! This completes the February release. Only another 71 issues to go

RichO
Holy crap Steve! I didn't know you had to be an Electrical Engineer to build that thing! The lighting looks fantastic. If you are building all the interior lighting, I bet the exterior lighting is going to look amazing. Great job.
activexp
And there's more wiring to come. I'll be glad when it's all out of the way and working!
Dr. Fiat
Incredible job there! Although the model is incredibly detailed already, are there further detailing options, photoetch, etc. available to dress up the engine compartment? Just curious, I may invest in one of these, or the Countach. Thanks! Darin
activexp
Hi Darin, I'm not aware of any PE for super detailing the engine but if you look at the official Facebook BTTF group there's a lot of modding going on, such as improving the look of the flux capacitor and other parts where the kit detail is inaccurate or lacking. Hope this helps, Steve
