Terrific stuff Giorgio.  The ailerons look superb.

Thanks Steve  I'm quite impatient to see some primer on them ... :analintruder:

You are getting there G. steadily as it goes.

Nice work on the radiator flap sir, looks great.

Looking forward to more.

Simon.

Cheers Simon, glad you were able to catch up

Aplogies for the lack of updates, but I was on a quick business trip to Switzerland yesterday, and today was a fairly busy one :frantic:

Here's what I managed to do over last WE: water radiator faired in with PPP

dav

dav

then some rescribing of lost panel lines, using Tamiya tape for curves as guide

dav

and these two tools for the actual scribing

dav

Starboard

dav

Windshield frame painted black (Tamiya Flat black, airbrushed)

dav

then I scratch built the antenna connection point on the tail fin using alu tape and thin copper wire

dav

A bit of masking and I was ready for primer

dav

dav

And that's when the trouble started :frantic: :chair:  First of all, my airbrush kept clogging; I used my usual mix of Vallejo Grey Primer and Future, but no way, a very frustrating priming session. I even stopped, thoroughly cleaned my airbrush and restarted, but it kept clogging. Then, right in the middle of things, front starboard fuselage half cracked open :badmood: despite all the CA glue reinforcement I had placed inside the joint

dav

So I decided to stop and focus on something else, while waiting for the newly applied glue to cure

Oil radiator cover grids: I wasn't happy with how the kit parts looked, so I used some PE leftovers

dav

dav

Filed away one side of the kit grids

dav

and superglued the PE bits in place. Then while priming, one of them just pinged off :chair:  I was able to recover it, but that was clearly a sign telling me to leave the workbench.

I'm hopefully getting back to this tonight. Comments welcome, meanwhile

STICAZZI!!!!

your progress is very good, as usual, but that antenna connection is above my expectations!!!:gobsmacked:

You mention a Tamiya tape for scribing???:blink2:

If so, it sounds veeeeery interesting! Never heard of it, but , as scribing isn't my favourite sport,  it might be veeeeery helpful!!!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I was thinking of a good way to translate this for our English speaking friends; should sound somewhat like "What the f...!" :D

You are very kind, anyway; I saw an attachment point like that done on a  1/72 model (!!) here on BM. So I figured I could replicate it in 1/48.

BTW, the Tamiya Tape for Curves is intended for masking, but makes for a very good scribing aid too.

Looking good mate.

And, yes, when the bogies strike it`s time to relax away from the bench.

Simon.

Thanks Simon, so true :frantic:

Let's see if I can fix it all tonight :pilot:

Oh dear! ( or similar words ) I hate it when the airbrush doesn't co-operate, and when you pop open a seam applying too much pressure,  I feel your pain.

The device for attaching the antenna wire to the fin is probably  a turnbuckle, which allows the tension in the wire to be adjusted without disconnecting it.

Hope the remedial action is successful.

Looks like it was. I just finished re-spraying the primer coat on the whole model, and it took me no more than 5  minutes, including airbrush cleanup! :analintruder:

What did I do different? Changed my airbrush needle (it was slightly bent, and it's been like that ever since I airbrushed the camo scheme on the C202), got rid of the pre-mixed primer+Future remainings (they had probably stayed there too long), gave a  thorough shake to the primer bottle, mixed it with 1/4 of Future, stirred well ... it sprayed like a dream!

Pics tomorrow :coolio:

Looking forward to the primer pics Giorgio, and nice to see the INCIDO make an appearance! I love the antenna attachment on the tail.

I'm one day late for those pics, sorry - had another very busy day yesterday :frantic: See below for the pics, and yes, INCIDO is always with me even if I don't mention it too often   :D

So here she is, in her primer coat

The wing roots need a bit of refining, but all in all I'm pretty happy with it.

Indeed, the camoflauge paintwork is approaching fast :frantic: My goal is to complete this model before the end of the year, and it looks like I can make it.
