Matchbox 1/72 A-4M Skyhawk (1976 Tooling)

Recommended Posts

Hello Chaps,

This is my second "Hairy Stick" adventure that I completed in November 2016- a very basic kit by Matchbox from 1976 that has been in my stash untouched for a very long time. I was really concerned about the decals being so old and the fact that they had "yellowed", whether they would work or not, but, if I let them sit in warm water for a few minutes, I was able to carefully peel them from the backing paper, they wouldn't slide, but beggars can't be choosers...I was just happy i got them to work!

I'm not going to say anything about the kit itself, because it's no longer available and I'm just going to post my efforts with a very basic kit...

Lovely work, especially the weathering.  I don't suppose that I could put in a cheeky ask that you put up a photo of the colour schemes on the back of the box? I have one without the box, so I'd like to get it somewhere near right!

Thanks Vee, much appreciated and sure, here is a photo of the back of the box that only indicates the colors with letters, so I've also included the page from the assembly instruction booklet with the color call outs next to the letters:

Good looking Matchbox kit! Fully agree on superb job done!

Remember this one when it had Israeli decals. One wonder what Revell have done with som Matchbox moulds?

They could produce this one toghether with the P-51D Mustang insted of their own old an bad P-51D...

Regars!

There is a great deal of satisfaction in taking an old kit and turning it into something special, rather than looking at it and everything falling into place, you have done just that, a wonderful build.

I do love the old Matchbox kits and boxing, so very colourful and a reminder of my 'yoof'

Thanks for sharing.
