The Spadgent
I is a few sheets to the wind as they say but tomorrow I'll have a blast with lighter grey and see how she sits. I'm confident.
daront
Also a point i see sometimes on completed models. The ADTs (four pito probes under the nose in front of the intakes), these only point forward in the airflow, so on the ground they are more sideways due to weight of the nozzles. Usually the aircraft will have them covered by blanks.

The Spadgent
Ahem. Sorry for any drunkness on posts last night. It was my evil twin what done it. Strange to have a clear head this morning so before chores of the day begin I hit the Tiff with the "A" Plan and turned. This. into This. There is just enough tonal variation kicking about to stop having to start from scratch. You can really see the difference when I took the done masks off. too dark you say? PING! I'm super happy with that. I'm still in two minds about the D day stripes as it seems odd to have them with the weapons on. What colour for the pylons? so I might just stick with how it is. What do you think? I tidied up the weapons, drilled holes in the belly rockets and made a sandwich. Omnomnomnom. right chores now. Thankyou for all your help over this little blip in proceedings. Turned out nice again. Happy Modelling guys. I dedicate this little triumph to Mr Tiger @TonyTiger66 Happy birthday sir. Same Birthday as the lovely Spitfire. Take care y'all. Johnny grey. bbudde
Looks much better now. The Eurofighter were normally clean, so maybe some light panellines shading and it's ok, but nothing serious. No idea for the pylons colour in that scheme. I would go simply with the bottom colour. Cheers Edit: Edited March 5, 2017 by bbudde
bbudde
A bit off topic, but in this shot you can see that they could start from a german motorway, if necessary:
daront
Pylon colours are the same as the main colour, The pylon noses including the itspl and fuel tank are the same as the radome. Its a protective coating for the airflow. Looking good though

CedB
Great recovery Johnny - she looks the part now and I'm with you, the stripes would detract from those lovely clean lines IMHO. Great picture Benedikt - "... in this shot you can see that they could start from a german motorway..." but they take the tail off on the sign gantries! Johnny no need for apologies regarding the late night posts - at least you didn't text me (wrong number) at 02:02 this morning and again at 04:42. Reece (whoever you are) I'm not interested in "Whats haopenin" and 'no' would be the response to "R u cummin?". I'm also not interested in "Please back herw me and kye got a create Stella let's drink get [censored!] mess about". Sounds like a good time was had by all, except perhaps Reece's neighbours.
bbudde
Yes Ced, but these motorways are constructed and built to remove all the unneccessary stuff fast and allow these air traffic ( if neccessary ).

jean
Like Ced, I think the D Day stripes wouldn't do justice to the plane. OK, it's not anywhere as sexy as a Rafale (I can see hate mail coming my way...) but it is damn gorgeous nonetheless! What this thread makes me feel is inadequate. Being a near teetotaler doesn't seem to be the dopest thing in the world any more, or was it ever? Note to self: get roaring drunk, phone Ced at the most ridiculous hours, and find his phone number. Not necessarily in that order. Johhny, this looks smashing! JR
The Spadgent
Thanks guys. Before reading the comments tonight I'd started the masking process for the stripes. I don't know what came over me. I just love em I guess.
TheBaron
Whatever you're drinking, definitely keep drinking it if leads to such superb tones in your painting sir. That is exquisitely and eminently grey, like a really exciting stormcloud. Tony
bbudde
Haha. I guess everyone knows both sides of that, but the stoned one is more difficult to explain the next day or to bear with . But without any serious, everything is fine! Edit: Edited March 5, 2017 by bbudde
TonyTiger66
It looks great John! Thank you for the birthday dedication !! Too kind and very much made me smile ! I too, have had a weekend of booze and food. Lovely Pale Ale on Friday and Saturday evening called 'Yak beer'. Sunday was the Australian War Memorial including the Last Post service, which can be seen live online (and there), in remembrance of a different lost soul, every day. Here is a link to the one that took place on the 5th of March. There was lovely gentle rain and a nice breeze, around 21°C: A trip to a pub for Rainbow Trout and more beer followed, then Whisky and cake at home !! I therefore, today, quite expectedly, feel walloped by a 'Pan-Galactaic Gargleblaster' . A great weekend though. Cheers John , good to see you're enjoying beetroot in the sarnie (lovely stuff!!) and I'm looking forward to the D-Day stripes . All the best TonyT

The Spadgent
Sounds like you had a belter of a day Mr Tiger. Thankyou for all the kind words, they really help in times of colour wrongness. I had some masking mojo kicking off throughout Sunday as I was juiced up about saving the grey and wanting to have my first go at painting stripes. I had just over an hour while the kids were at gym tonight so here's how it went. 5:45pm I was already masked and ready for white, with a hint of warm grey just to knock the edge off. blammo, on it goes. I then measured and masked for the black sections. hopefully I won't get any paint coming off with the tape as I took the anger out of it on the back of my hand. I mixed up some black with a wee drop of white to once again knock off the edge. And gave her a good blast. This took me to about 6:50pm. i let it dry for about 5 mins and just couldn't wain nae longer. the first bits came away. then off with the rest. The kids were due back at 7:15pm it was about 7:05pm by now. but look what happened! like a bloody beautiful zebra crossing! Im well happy with that. Sorry Ced I know you're not a fan but hell. "Look at the boooones" Well the kids got backing the dot. I tidied up and here she sits waiting for tomorrow night. 7:45pm Two hours then. Thanks for taking time out to look in on the stripy wonder. hope you're all having a lovely Monday. I'm headed for BroardChurch. Happy modelling chaps. Johnny stripe. TheBaron
Spiffy liquorice stripes Johnny! On the shapes of that aircraft they come very close to being a classic dazzle paint scheme. Tony
Howlindawg
Damn those stripes look good! You'll need a set of 1/72 John, Paul, George and Ringo figures to stroll across the fuselage.
