Douglas A-26B "Stinky” - 1/72 Italery

Recommended Posts

Hi, guys,

Let me introduce, my last Lady - A-26B Invader in 1/72 scale. The Italery model is worth to be correct in terms of the fuselage width. The width was cut up to 3.5 mm and the Lade get much more shapely as it should be.  A lot of other details were corrected and added:

- the interior, including the bomb bay and weel bay was developed a lot using BigEd photoetched and scratch built parts.
   - the lines was corrected (get more narrow) and added with foil in some places.
   - it was riverted.
   - diving rudders were cut off.
   - resin R-2800 egines by Vector were added by some scratch built parts,
   - gear and bomb bay doores are from scratch

  - landing gear are from scratch

   - painted by Alclad II and Gunze metallics.

With best regards!

Beautiful build!!! Top marks for a very thorough job!

A question for you Volfmax:

If you remove 3.5 mm on the width of the fuselage, how did you get a canopy that fits so well?

Congrats!

Wow, impressive work there. I really love your NMF it's very realistic looking and there's some great detail work on display to boot.

Great work! this is one of those models that inspires me and also smashes my modelling confidence all at the same time :D

Nice one!

BTW -  I am not sure but it is likely the first Italeri Invader on RFI since 2014, so from time when I am active here...Please correct me if I am wrong

Cheers

This looks stunning. Wonderful interior detailing, a lovely NMF and the open engine is superb.

I have had this in the stash some time, often I open it and look, then put away. I would like to build a French one.

If there is any chance you could share more details of how, and where, width was taken from the fuselage, it would be greatly appreciated :).

:goodjob:

Thanks for comments and interest to the model. It's very important to me. Each part of the fuselage was grinded down up to 1,7 mm. It demanded to correct all the interior  parts (including Eduard etched parts), cut away the tail and make the canopy from scratch. So, a lot of work, as you can imaging. But now the Invader is close to its familiar view.

Started out with Italeri kits, got to love 'em !!

You have build this kit to absolute perfection!!

very impressive cockpit!!

Metallic finish is exceptional, too!

As if that's not enough: nice presentation/very good photography !

Thanks for sharing, Olli
