I have a feeling these things come out of the factory in sand, as I've seen a number of US armoured vehicles in NATO camo wearing them when they were rushed into service. TUSK kits are usually painted prior to the unit receiving them but when you order a single replacement part (not just panels but anything really) it's in NATO green. That's how you see the checkerboard reactive armor sets. Basically - new complete kit is sand colored, replacement parts are green.
