Berwick Law - Steel barque

Recommended Posts

That is simply stunning Bob.

Your model of the Berwick Law a joy to behold and the display case really guilds the lily.

It would take pride of place in any collection.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks, but it is really nothing special - doesn't even have furled sails!        I haven't done any shipmodelling for weeks now, having lost interest to a great extent.      If I ever display the building process anywhere, I am always inundated with requests to reserve them, get first refusal on them, or even pay for them before they are completed or stop what I am doing to build something else.       I must have said a million times that I am not a business, and all the attempts to coerce me to undertake private commissions etc just destroys my enthusiasm.

I am not doing anything that the majority of Britmodllers couldn't do, but in most cases, the declaration "I could never do that" goes up, and that is the end of it.       I guess kits have taken over the modelling world these days, and it has all become far too commercialised for me!

Here is a very small model of the Berwick Law under full sail.   This was built to the much smaller scale of 50 feet to 1 inch and only took about 24 hours to build, spread over a few days.     I didn't bother with ratlines at all, but it is not really noticeable.     The upper spars are a bit too thick, but an attractive model nevertheless.

That's real modelling.  Lovely to look at and thanks for showing.

We live not that very far from North Berwick and climb up the Law. It is a conical pointy hill and has some wild ponies. It's quite a small but prominent feature with some military observation posts from various wars past.

I looked up he history of the ship and see she was lost having left port Aryan on 13 March 1886 and not heard of again.  Sad really.  Reminds us how unforgiving and hard life was then.

Bob keep showing them.  It's a public service !!  I learned stuff anyway.
