DominikS
I hope I'm not opening the can of worms. What was the colour of back part of A6M Zeros blades (those with aluminum fronts). Was it black or some other colour (I've heard sth about red-brown which was later used to paint whole blades)? Thanx in advance for help. Cheers Dominik
JackG
Nick Millman is the go to guy for this. He has described it as a matt dark reddish brown, and gives FS20059 as something to go by. regards. Jack Edited February 12, 2017 by JackG
Nick Millman
Yes, a very dark maroon brown which looks almost black in some images. Not the same as the lighter red-brown primer which so many modellers like to use for the props. It is similar to the Gunze Mr Color 131 'propeller color'. Bear in mind also that on early A6M the spinner was painted aluminium over red-brown primer whilst the blades were polished natural metal.
