  • Homebee changed the title to 1/48 - Granville Brothers Aircraft Gee Bee R-1 & R-2 racer by Dora Wings - R-2 & R-1 released - new A&A Models R-1 & R-2 boxing

Hello everyone,

One major clarification:

Our "A&A Models" kits represent 1933 versions of the aircraft, while Dora Wings ones - 1932 versions.

FYI:  Due to the fact that initial Bee Gee's flight performance was far from its creator's expectations, some design changes took place in 1933.

What is different:

- another engine and engine cowling,

- different propeller;

- modified wing and flaps;

- another vertical stabilizer  (encreased )

Feels free to compare sprues and shall notice related changes.

Cheers,

Modelsvit team

You are right, it is the R1/R2 hybrid from '34. It is the R1 fuz with 18 inches added and the 1932 R2 wings.

The font on the box is confusing, the 2 looks like a Z.

Thanks so much for the clarification Malc! I like the markings quite a bit but I already have R1 ('32) & R2 ('33) and I belive it would be too much for me to add another one no matter how much I like GeeBee.
But I am happy that the aircraft receives the attention from a brand(s) that are trying to do all the variations.
I hope we will receive some more of the post-war racers from these brands. I would be super happy

be nice if they could do a 1/48 model Z .... i almost finished the williams bros 1/32 GeeBee Z - before putting it on the shelf of shame .

seeing it in the Rocketeer movie brings back fond memories ....
