1/48 New York ANG F-16A, Gulf War 1.

Finished the paint touch ups on the underside, as well as the white in the wheel wells.

I think this is still a bit too blue/grey but I'm going with it. Looked at a lot of pictures, and the colors seem to vary quite a bit from plane to plane anyways...

And the reference picture shows the medium grey to have a bit of a darker hue...so I'm happy.

Gear doors and various undercarriage parts...

Beautiful work ken. Stunning results.

Can someone please tell me though, why do hasegawa insist on putting a seam line straight down the centre of the canopy?

I have a 72nd f-15 in the stash with the same problem.

Unfortunately that is how the mould is. It is the same with their Tomcats, and a few others with this style of blown canopy. I also do not think that Hasegawa are to only culprits doing this.

This model is coming along in leap and bounds, with some very nice work on the weaponry.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. I think the only process that allows the correct bulged shape to the canopy makes the seam unavoidable. I don't have any non-Hasegawa F-16 kits, but I've heard that the sides of the canopy is flatter than it should be in these other kits.

Latest progress...

Painted the nose cone, and attached the landing gear legs.

Another coat will be applied to the nose cone, then I'll spray some future on the underside to protect the paint from chipping.

Hudson agrees, exciting times ahead!!

Hi!

Been a while, but as they say...life intervened.

Still working on it, and the weapons are now finished. I only need to clear coat the aircraft it self a couple of times, then its on to decaling.

Just one pic this time:

Decaling has started!

The SuperScale decals are really fragile, and they don't have the actual colors needed to make the aircraft they depict. So, I have had to resort to scrounging decals from the stash...

After

The stenciling seems to be white in the reference pics, but I could only find yellow ones. The rest were either in a solid framed background, or so dark that they disappeared in the paint coloring. Oh well.

The decaling continues... Still using 3 different decals sheets. The SuperScale decals work, but you have to treat them like eggs.

Starting to look like something now...
