Flankerman
Finally finished - the E.V.A Resin kit of the wartime HMS Upholder - along with my scratch-built 1990's version........ The 'distressing' looks a bit overdone, the camera makes it look worse - it doesn't look that bad to my tired old eyeballs - honest!!! I replaced the deck gun with one from a Mikro-Mir kit.... Flankerman
.... and now HMS Upholder from the 1990's....... scratched using a German Type 212 as the basis.... .... and finally - the two subs together - 50 years apart.... Another two to add to the collection. Ken Edited February 5, 2017 by Flankerman

73north
well done Ken - lovely models !! I presume you have read the Profile Warship on HMS Upholder ? If you ever want a great read on WW2 British submarine warfare , Alastair Mars is excellent ( Unbroken and HMS Thule Intercepts - both Pan ) and for a general RN Sub History its the lovely Pan Books Submarines at war 1939-1945 by the same author . Julien
Nice to see the modern Upholder and not a bad job on the conversion. A couple of pointers if I may; there needs to be more masts, you missed the exhaust at the back of the bridge fin and the periscopes are a bit forward (I did these on the next 3) the bow is a little off but given its a conversion looks pretty good, it was a nightmare to draw these curves! A pity you could not get the hawser trough in at the front as its very prominent. I had hoped someone would do a kit for the upholder class, but sadly no. A good rendition and brings me back a few memories. A funny story with HMS Unseen, an hour before launch a fog bank rolled up the Mersey. She went down the slip and disappeared into the fog with a tug in chase. Lived up to her name that day Julien (Builder of Unseen, Unicorn & Ursula)
