Went back and had a look, it really is perfect. Wonder if this is some more of this sponge effect that you have been using so well? However it is done it just looks spot on.

Thank you all for your kind comments and encouragement.  I am so pleased that you guys think my little Viper is looking good.

 

As to the chipping I used a little bit of liquid mask on a few spots but most of the chips are made with the tip of an Xacto blade and a little bit of coarse sand paper for the scratches.  I have gone back over the stripes with fine painted chips in a lighter red shade to 'fill in " the oversized chips.  To be honest I think I went too far with the chipping and I will keep working the finish until I think it's right.  Lots more washes and highlights to go before I'm through.

 

So lots more chances to stuff it all up

 

To take a break from all the painting I shot a little stop motion video,  The seven year old me was really happy but the old basrad me was upset that I couldn't get iMovie to output a decent frame rate, sigh.
