Robert
Here is my Hobbyboss 1/48 Yak-38 Forger A. Painted with Akan paints, an Eduard interior, Pavla seat, Quickboost exhaust and fan and finished with a Flory wash. The only thing I am not sure about it whether to matt it down or not. Darby
Not often you see of of these. IMO I wouldn't worry about matting it. Looks good as it is.
Simon382
Looking good! Shame, imho, it just looks sooooo ugly. Very nice result of a subject we don't see much of, good skills

eng
Very nice, incredibly small wing on that bird. Looks ok without a matt coat to be honest. Eng

invidia
Great looking result, odd looking plane with the long fuselage and little wings.

Eng Wing size is a compromise between needing to be large enough to provide reasonable landing speeds and yet small enough to reduce drag at cruise. A VTOL aircraft can optimize towards smaller for better cruise/high speed performance because the wing is essentially dead weight in the landing and takeoff phases. The first gen Harriers also had quite small wing areas and this was increased for the second gen to be optimized for payload capacity using a rolling takeoff where the wing supports some of the weight instead of none.
