Pete in Lincs
Quick question with maybe a complicated answer? Last week I rescued some boxes of kits from my Mum's attic. Mostly they had been there since the mid seventies when I left to join up. Amongst the Spitfires etc was a large Panther tank. Painted in Humbrol matt white it has a motor inside, suspension and is about 28 x 14cm. I'm sure I acquired it built and as is. I have learnt that it may be 1/25th scale, new to me. I was going to use it for parts for Sci fi scratchbuilds but wonder if it's actually worth anything to someone? One exhaust is missing and it needs a good refurbishment but looks fairly good (to me). I will be grateful for your thoughts. Cheers Pete

Sgt.Squarehead
I think this is one of Tamiya's early releases, they also did a Jagdpanther IIRC.....Pretty sure there's aftermarket and the like available for it, so it might make an interesting BIG project: https://www.scalemates.com/search-solr.php?q="panzerkampfwagen+v+panther"++1%3A25 FWIW

Pete in Lincs
There's a Jagdpanther on the bay for about fifty pounds (unbuilt) so I figure this is worth about half that? So I'll probably just hang onto it as is, unless someone really wants it. Thanks Pete
Sgt.Squarehead
List seems to be £50-60, so they ain't cheap.....I reckon with a couple of aftermarket bits you could have a cracking model from this one. PS - Does yours have band type tracks or indy-links Pete? Tamiya's kits seem to have the latter, but there also appear to be some boxings (not sure if the plastic's the same) from Academy with bands. Pete in Lincs
Sorry, Sarge, I missed your query last night. The tracks have independent links, That's what made me wonder exactly what I had. As I say, I'll probably just keep it with a view to stripping it down & refurbishing it sometime in the future, unless someone else really wants it. It's an odd scale for AFV's but there must be a market there?
Panzer Vor!!!
I thought Academy,s were copies of the Tamiya kits , the Tiger had indy links not bands so I wonder if all Tammy,s big Tanks did ??

Pete in Lincs
I managed to take pictures but they are still in the camera as we had family around for dinner & they only just left. I have to resize the pics then do battle with Photobucket before I can get them onto here. I tried to remove the turret again but it jammed and the rear bit popped off! There are old fracture lines inside it so that would all need reinforcement. I'll do the pics and let you have a look but I will probably shelve any work on it until I've caught up on all the Sci fi/kreiger stuff I want to do this year. My modeling time is really limited nowadays, unfortunately. Meantime, if anyone really needs it I'm open to offers.
Pete in Lincs
At last, a picture of the tank. With a British standard Humbrol tinlet to show the size of the beastie.
Sgt.Squarehead
Some of the details are a bit simplified and the pitch of the track looks to be out, other than that it looks like a Panther Ausf A to me.
