Thanks Jan. :D

Definitely a big Yes on that.

The older I get the less I like winter and snow.

Spring is my favourite season.

I got four builds going on in this project on the table now, and then four others that is more or less on hold for now.

And that's about the limit I have for space with my tiny worktable. :D

I'm not sure how I've missed this before, a most impressive project & one I'll keep an eye on from now. I like the look of your cottage, very pretty, I'm guessing too early for leaves on the Birches (?) yet, must be nice in the summer.

Thanks for looking in Steve. :D

No leaves yet.

It's a bit early in the year for that.

But the birches will soon start.

It's very nice in the summer, and it's only a few minutes walk to a lovely lake that warms up enough for swim already in late may/early june.

Hi.
I got just a small update for you this time.
I've painted the underside of both the Hunter and the SMB.
Yesterday I spent masking them both and I started on the topside camouflage.
1_zpsypjxiqy3.jpg
Some Dark Sea Grey on the Hunter.

2_zpsvzuzwltj.jpg
And some RLM79 on the SMB.
I've run out of RAL8008, but from what I can find out RLM79 should be almost the same colour.

The plan for the week is to continue painting these two, and to glue the MiG together.

To be continued....

Hi it's time for an update.
The easter week was spent in the cottage, so I didn't have time to build so much.
During Good Friday winter deceided to visit us again.
1_zps0sqxkd8q.jpg

When we returned home after some relaxing days in the cottage I continued to build and paint.

The MiG is proceeding according to plan.

2_zps1nvpwiml.jpg
3_zpsusjfzjoj.jpg
The main wheel bay is in place.

4_zps8eeqotzf.jpg
5_zpsfpeohhpr.jpg
The cockpit part are starting to fall in place.

6_zpsps6eo2zf.jpg
The SMB has got two coats of paint.

7_zpshuhcexmm.jpg
And so has the Hunter.

8_zpslhrham2r.jpg
And as an Easter Egg I glued the cabin on the Alouette together in Easter Day.

The plan for the week is to glue the MiG together and finish the paintwork on the SMB and Hunter.
The Alouette is a bit tricky to get together so that will take some more time.

To be continued.....

Oops.
I've failed in my research. :headbang:

My MiG-21 PFM is the wrong version to build as an Egyptian PFM before the Six days war.
Egypt received very early versions of the PFM and they had the earlier frontlifting canopy as seen on the PF version and not the side opening style as the later PFM's.

So my PFM will now be sent for re-education and return in an other thread as an East German MiG-21 SPS/K :D

To build an early PFM one has to cross kit Eduards PF and PFM versions.
And just before I discovered this I actually did order some overtree kits from Eduard. :D

So building the MiG-21 will re-start as soon as possible.

To be continued....

I think were technically MiG-21 FL....

I find this a really useful guide to the complexities

http://mig-21.de/english/technicaldataversions.htm

Quote

Second Generation

Radar equipped all-weather interceptor, armed with missiles on two wing pylons only, some versions with external GP-9 gun pod (one 23mm two-barrel gun GSh-23).

  • MiG-21PF (76)
  • MiG-21FL (77)
  • MiG-21FL (77, built under licence in India)
  • MiG-21PFS (94)
  • MiG-21PFM (94A)
  • MiG-21PFM (94N)

mig-21Secondgeneration.gif

And It's blinkin' annoying eduard have not recombined their existing sprues to make a MiG-21 FL kit,  basically a PF with PFM (type 3) fin,  as this was widely used by various Arab nations and the Indians, who made some under licence.

Neat work so far Bosse

cheers

Hi.
I've been too busy with life lately, so my builds have been suffering.
And now the whole family has got new phones.
We switched operator and thank's to that we all got new phones, and at a cheaper rate than with our previous operator.

And I've got to test the camera in the new phone.
So here are two pictures of a freshly coated Hunter and SMB2.

Hopefully I'll be able to update this a some more before the weekend.

Hi Bosse,

I got the same family, nice sunny warm weather and an other hobby so playing around with plastic is reduced time wise.

Personally I don't see it as a race and the builds wil come up when the time is better for this hobby.

Enjoy it.

Tanks Jan.

My builds usually wind down during spring and summer.

We have a cottage where we usually spend our weekends this time of the year.

I try and to do an hour here and there during the week, but I sure would like to have some time.

But then again, the weekends in the cottage this time of the year is what gets me through the winters.   :D

Hi.
Summer is really coming to my part of the world.
And with that is high time to get some work done on this build if I'm to finish them before the New Years deadline.
I'll restart the MiG with the correct parts to build a PFS.

My plan is to use the fuselage from the PF box, and the wing and fin from the PFM box.
6_zpsygei4tkv.jpg

I've already glued the fin, seat and missiles together.
7_zpslixhpzwx.jpg
The SK-1 ejection seat was fun to build.
A minikit in it self with 15 parts.
Since this kit is from an "overtree-box" I don't have the PE parts for it.
But I think I have some spare belts in the spare part box.

Hi.

Now I got a new progress report to present to you.
I was home from work last week with a rather bad cough.
And when you have all that time to yourself thing can happen at the worktable.
The Hunter & SMB has got some decals.
1_zpswpp1v1uq.jpg

If I have the choice to build and aircraft with killmarks, I just have to do it.
2_zpsltrq3rh4.jpg
SMB "43" down an EAF MiG-17 trying to get up from its airfield in the second attack wave

The jordanian decals from the old CE sheet went on OK, but they're on the thicker side, so it took some MicroSol to get them to snuck down in the panellines.
4_zpsgubxqi8i.jpg
5_zpsllnwgakm.jpg

Later during the week I started the Mirage III BJ.
This is what I have to work with.
6_zpsuiw81u6z.jpg

Two zoom sets to spruce up the cockpits.
7_zpstn1ljmra.jpg

Aires resin ejectionseats, and Master Pitot tube.
8_zpseuzbriia.jpg

Another Eduards set to detail the exhaust a bit.
9_zps2tq6fsjv.jpg

Hellers plastic.
10_zpsrultpzuv.jpg

And a resin pylon for the bombload from Isradecal.
11_zpsjjy3kvxu.jpg

I don't seem to have any appropriate bombs at home to load up the Mirage and SMB, so I'll put an order in for some from L'arsenal later on.

To be continued.....
