Had my eye on this kit for quite a while and managed to get an unstarted factory sealed one on Ebay. Looks like it will be a fun build.

Try using MEK that works nicely whera's Revell just wont touch it!

Doing one myself slowly...

The charger floor is much better,it will need topping and tailing though.

The tyres are a better fit too!

Might.....use this colour on it..

Just to prove that the other charger is ok.

Hehe....I really like that, a V8 Austin A35 :speak_cool:

Have you noticed that colour #22 white gloss referred to in the instructions for several parts is absent? I've got #34 white matt but no #22. Maybe it's a substitution.

Looking good, you might want to wander over to the IPMS UK site and have a look at the Beyond the Box SIG pages. The guys there have been building these kits for a while but not as Airfix intended...

The instructions indicate paint #171 for the exhaust, antique bronze metallic, an odd choice but I thought I'd give a try.

The speedo goes up to 80!

Thanks Mr. Nuts. Looks like they ran out of tiny pots of 22 and substituted it with 34 matt white. No problem really as I probably won't use them.

Body paintwork completed with 'rust' patches.

And here's a real one.........

My brother (who's a lot older than me) had a 4-door saloon in the 50's. Can't remember much about it other than it was green and the indicator switch was in the middle of the dash, an odd place for it I thought.

Good fit on the doors with a simple but effective hinging method.

That's the van almost complete. Next job is the figures which will be fun (I don't really do figures ;))

I found the decals rather fragile, 3 broke when slid off the packing paper.

Encountered the funny plastic when a door which I was certain was securely cemented, fell off :o

The van will be finished with the cool hand crank option

Hand crank and radiator grille fitted. The van is now definitely finished.

And now the figures....

That's Wallace done. The body halves needed some re-working around the neck area to get a good fit.

  • 3 weeks later...

Very good. Great paint finish on the slowly oxidising van ! I've enjoyed your wip, something different.

The Ford 100E series of the  Anglia, Popular and Prefects of 1957 ish had a similar indicator switch on the Steering wheel hub too with the horn push in the centre.

Well done, thanks for showing and a great wip too
