MarcB
Hello everybody, My name is Marc, and I've been a long time lurker on this forum. I make sure to visit at least once a day, there are always nice models and lots of interesting info to be found. And as I finally completed a model (wow !!) I'd like to show some pictures of it. It's a conversion of a 1/48 Hasegawa P-47D into a P-47N, using an old (but still very nice) Medallion Models conversion set, all combined with an Aires cockpit, the engine and drop tanks from the Revellogram P-47N and Master gun barrels. Paints are Alclad and various acrylic stuff. Decals come from an Aeromaster sheet, the Revellogram decal sheet and home-made decals. Checkers on the tail and nose were airbrushed on, using self-made vinyl masks. Thanks for looking (and sorry for my approximative English.. ) MarcB
GDumbrell
Wow, That's a very clean looking P47. You've absolutely nailed the yellow and black chequeboard - spot on.
polo1112
Welcome Marc and congratulations for your beautiful Thunderbolt. This is perhaps your first post on Britmodeller but I don't think it's your first model you built. Great work you did there. Cheers. Polo.

Buzby061
Nicely done. I'll look forward to more postings. How did you do the masking, were they cut out individual squares? Pete Edited January 19, 2017 by Buzby061

MarkusOZ
Those checkers make my eyes sore just looking at them (in a good way ) they must have been time consuming to mask out. Well done on an awesome build with a nice clean finish!
MarcB
Thanks all for all the kind words. @ Orangesherbert : yes I used some wash from MIG @ Busby061 : it would have been tedious to cut all these small squares, so I got some help from my Silhouette Portrait cutter https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/machines/portrait Cheers MarcB

Jessica
That's right lovely, that is. Who says you need a modern wunderkit to make an excellent model?
Booty003
Welcome to the Mad House Marc !! You have smashed it straight out of the park with your first RFI - that is a stunning build and as others have stated, the chequerboard paint application is perfect. I really like the Jug as an aircraft - a proper bruiser of a machine. I'm sure that we are all really looking forward to seeing much more of your work.
