Welcome amongst us

Thanks milktrip, heloman1 and perdu!

Here is the first build update - a lot of work done. I have finished off the cockpit, done up the interior, inserted the LED, put the fuselage together and added all the little bits and bobs to it. I will now wait for some Gunze Masking Solution R to arrive which I will test on the canopy to mask it and then prime it all.

In the meantime I will work on the blades and tyres and exhausts, finish them off.

So here are the updates.

First off here is the completed cockpit. I have chosen a different colour for the seats as I like it (Tamiya Enamel XF - 49 Khaki Drab). The rest of the kit is painted according to instructions. The floor is Tamiya XF - 54 Dark Sea Grey enamel and the panels Humbrol 33 Flat Black. I highlighted the buttons using Tamiya Acrylic XF-2 Flat White and also some Yellow and Light Blue.

The seat belts were a pain to paint but got them done as best I could with my fidly fingers, It was all then given a wash with Vallejo Light Grey Acrylic wash.

The interior with seats again painted with Tamiya XF-49 Khaki Drab enamel and railing with Tamiya x-11 Silver enamel. This was given a wash with Vallejo Black wash - an acrylic wash so as not to harm the enamel paint but give it a weathered and used look.

20170118_000049_RichtoneHDR_zpsvj8vsdbv.

20170118_000056_RichtoneHDR_zpsmnr7wrfq.

All put into the fuselage

20170118_004020_RichtoneHDR_zpsnwsdtnds.

The LED is to be constructed using two small watch batteries each 1.55 volts for a combined 3.1 volts which is enough to power the LED. I later changed the battery to a slightly larger 3 volt battery as the two small batteries kept failing apart.

20170118_004053_RichtoneHDR_zpskkx7yilp.

20170118_011648_RichtoneHDR_zpsaxu4uhzx.

20170118_011942_RichtoneHDR_zpsqcwnluqj.

Here it is in its current state. Fuselage halves joined then filled in and sanded, I used the below tools to do quite some rescribing - not sure if I got the lines as straight as I wanted.

2017-01-19%2012.02.36_zpsfyqnvkvd.jpg

Now the parts were the windows are going are already primed and painted first so that I donot have to mask exactly over the clear part and can just have the mask go over the part and onto some part of the fuselage. The paint colour will hopefully match the final paint colour in the end.

Here is the interior highlighted with a slight blue hue coming from the LED.

Now as stated previously I will work on the blades, the tyres and exhausts, as these will be painted separately and attached near the end of the build.

I am waiting on a Gunze Masking Solution R - which I will use to mask the canopy and then attach it so I can prime the entire model. together.

I hope you all liked the update. All comments welcome.

Looking good. You could have got away with .5 volt battery, the cabin lights in the Wessex were all but useless. Nice idea though.

Looks good, nice progress, like the light.

Thanks Colin and Mick. Colin I donot know of a 0.5 volt coin battery nor an LCD that works with one, all my LCD's require minimum of 3 volts to operate, can you please let me know of such LCD lights and batteries, it would be helpful for future builds.

Here is the next update

Using my preferred primer Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover Flat White Primer

The blades and connecting parts were primed

These were then painted detailed and decaled and lightly weathered- which took me a few days to get done. I also painted the exhausts as well.

The canopy was masked using Mr Masking Sol R (A liquid mask which creates a thin film around the masked area). The main body was then primed sanded and pre shaded with Humbrol 33 Flat Black.

Here it is after a test fit

Next will be painting the main body, decaling and sealing it all in. I might also paint the tyres as well.

I hope you all liked the update. All comments welcome.

Thanks for the prompt reply there Colin. Thanks Mick!

Here is the next update,

The body was painted in Humbrol 155 Olive drab. Some of the pre shading came through though very lightly, but a nice subtle effect is good for me.

20170127_191311_RichtoneHDR_zps7rjxhojn.

20170127_191322_RichtoneHDR_zpsd3evljwm.

This was then coated with 3 coats of Pledge Floor Care (with one hour intervals between coats).Test fitted with rotors:

20170127_223854_RichtoneHDR_zpso3xg2peq.

20170127_223918_RichtoneHDR_zpskssphjiz.

20170127_223844_RichtoneHDR_zpsmgybyrgz.

I will do up one more coat of clear tomorrow and then apply weathering and decals along with the rotors exhausts in the coming week.

I hope you all liked the update. All comments welcome.

Wow...

Thanks Colin and Milktrip.

Here is the final update. The model is almost complete only have the matte coat left to fully dry.

So using Tamiya Panel line Accent and also more specifically a Copic Multiliner with 0.03mm tip I did up all the panel lines. I also did up the decals as well

20170203_193344_RichtoneHDR_zpsdqx4c41q.

20170203_193402_RichtoneHDR_zpshvnmbccp.

20170203_193412_RichtoneHDR_zpsufktu5sc.

20170203_193323_RichtoneHDR_zpsfpw7iv2f.

20170203_193332_RichtoneHDR_zpsocj4sdvm.

I then used a comercial matte coat to coat the entire model, which really is a sheen finish, as I prefer a sheen finish on this helo rather than a matte finish.

Here she is whilst the matte coat is drying

20170203_224856_RichtoneHDR_zps6oqkwqly.

20170203_224913_RichtoneHDR_zpswo3opbk3.

20170203_225128_RichtoneHDR_zpsdcexgiqn.

20170203_225236_RichtoneHDR_zpskasg4uuk.

20170203_225149_RichtoneHDR_zpsk4hjhxlq.

20170203_225217_RichtoneHDR_zpsirej9zyq.

Now will do some final touch ups tomorrow and have photos up in the gallery as well.

I hope you all liked the build, all comments welcome.
