While working on the base for the X-Craft started on this the other night at the model club

Very quick build and even quicker to paint ready for the Decals now and then it will be going into some water to try out something new  :book:

Nice looking sub! I didn't know you could get a model of this.  Looks great!

Tristan this was just an impulse buy at a recent show it was cheap so just went for it the main purpose of this is to do some water experimenting for the seascape it will be set in

Hi Beefy,

Not being of the nautical persuasion

What time era are we looking at for this sub?

Probably not as quick a timescale as you put it together!

Cheers

Keith

Hi BIG Keith yes quite a quick build for me not many parts to it

The box information has these submarines operating around the late 1970 to 1990 time frame

But I could be wrong it has been known before  :bangin:

Well I have dropped a Boob Boo the early info was wrong these things are quite new should have read the info properly  :bangin:

These subs were being developed during the 80,s built around 1995 ish and the Italian navy also operate a couple of them

Beefy goes to the naughty corner again

Nice, I look forward to this being finished, it's one of my favorites.

The HDW 212 class are a very modern submarine, development program began in 1994. First boat was laid down 1998 and launched 2002.

They have advanced non nuclear air independent propulsion, basically hydrogen fuel cells.

In many ways they are a lot stealthier than even a nuclear submarine, which generates more heat signature and noise from the reactor.

Fantastic submarines.

Revell also made a 1/144 kit of a 206 class, which is a much earlier HDW diesel electric submarine and a 1/144 214 class, which has similar tech to the 212 which got sold to the Greeks mostly and has some serious surfaced stability issues!

Always good have a small amount of info on what you are building

Small update the boat has been given a coat of clear and the decals applied
