Timbo343
Back on the 9th Jan, i started the Mercedes W06 F1 car driven by Lewis Hamilton. If anyone wants to have a go at doing this, there is a thread on here for you to download the PDF files... Please note, this build will not be perfect. I've used photopaper for this which has been printed by a laser printer rather than an inkjet so the toner is sat on the paper rather than soaking into it. It took me 2 nights to finish the Front Wing and nose cone. To be honest, the nose cone was finished on the first night. This is it in progress. The smallest bits to cut out and glue onto the wing This is it against a trolley token / the size of a £1 coin I've had to start going round all the edges of the card with a black sharpie rid the white lines of the paper (you can see them in one of the images above) Evening Number 3... The wooden plank and the floor of the car By the end of night 3, here is the finished result. Night 4... Starting the cockpit As you can see, the edges of the cockpit arent great. You can see where the paper has been folded.

Its there to stop teams from using too much downforce on their cars. If a car has too much down force the plank gets warn away. If too much of the plank is worn, then team incure penalties. Teama have now put titanium skid plates on the planks to make the show more interesting.

richj
That's coming on quickly. Looking forward to see how the suspension is done. Going to have to get some glossy paper for my builds as yours looks a lot better than when printed on plain card.
Timbo343
Thats up next, it looks like slits are cut into the body work for smal tabs to feed through. I printed on to paper first and the colours werent as true as they are on glossy card. Edited January 17, 2017 by Timbo343
Timbo343
Progress is coming on with this but cannot wait for it to be finished. Im sick of getting Gorilla Glue on the model and sick of cutting bits out. I started my Benetton 188 last night to give me something different to do and a bit of a rest bite.
