Paul J
Hi Some Greenham Common pics I think 1983. Loads in this section so I will do in batches during week. Mor from the 'Hall to come and airliner and other interestin civvy. For those that used to go to these great shows, they will recall the open top busses for camera toting enthusiasts . Thats where some of these here were taken from such as the top three quarter kind of views. Enjoy!
Irish 251
Yes, that is 1983. The Lightning shown taxiing was lost in a fatal crash near Scarborough a few weeks later. Edited January 8, 2017 by Irish
bentwaters81tfw
And the Pucara. Had to be 83. Vulcan for 81 was 594, now at Newark. Best Vulcan display ever. 83 was the last show at Greenham. Fairford doesn't come close.

Re Fairford From what i hear/see of the content nowadays it certainly don't compare to the colourful variety of 25 years ago or more> I feel rather fortunate to have seen all this stuff during late 60's to the early noughties. Nigel Bunker
Fairford is but a pale comparison of the glory that was Greenham Common. Gone and much missed.

Swamp Donkey
Greenham Common shows were superb. My first memory (mid 70's?) was a KC97 with a couple of USAF F-4D hanging off it - oh the joy! i missed the first Greenham show, but went to every one afterwards - and the photos above - bring back such great memories SD
MikeC
Yes, very good memories of Greenham in the 70s. My ATC Sqn used to run a minibus to the show. One year, at the conclusion of flying (the Arrows in Gnats of course) we were just backing out of the parking space to come home, when someone yelled "STOP!!" Coming low and fast, crowd right to left, was a high wing and deep fuselage, which turned out to be a B-24 on its delivery flight from India. The same B-24 is now in the RAF museum. Anyone else remember that?

Swamp Donkey
And look at that white Galaxy in the background of the Lightning photo - I recall one year when every other display was an F104, or 2 (Germans and Belgium), or how many Canadian ones in their team?
