Culdrose and Cornish places 1983

Hi. Some pics here that will hopefully appeal to a few members()  Taken while I was on hols with wife to be and her kids in Cornwall. We happened to choose one of the hottest weeks in July that year. I got a bit fidgety laying on the beach so left the others at Moneypenny Cove while I took myself off in my SAAB 96 to go on a little tour. First stop was Culdrose/HMS Seahawk where these and the Royal Navy entertained me:

Then this and I made my way back to our holiday cottage in Polruan for a couple COLD beers down at the local!

Just a couple notes. I only 'cleaned up a few of these photos as you will notice.  I did have a couple others of a Chipmunk and Gazelle but they are specks on the originals. Hope you have enjoyed these. Plenty more to come.

Have a nice weekend!

Maybe Readymoney Cove, up Fowey way?  Methinks the hot sun may have been causing Paul J's mind to wander...

Flew LN-WFC quite a few times as a kid, a family friend was high up in Brymon, so plenty of gash flights to the Scillies.

At Culdrose you managed to catch the RN Jetstreams wile they were in their brief transitional phase wearing the red scheme before they all went blue.

The RAF Sea King HAR.3 would have been based there aswel, with the fairly fresh RAF SK Training Unit.

I think you probably mean Readymoney Cove, which is just across the water from where you were staying at Polruan.

Love the Saab 96, must have been quite an adventure!

Hi Cheers for comment and update notes.

Re my SAAB, We did have a couple moments with it due to flat battery. One day we went out to Polperro along those really narrow lanes. it conked out but someone stopped by and jump started it for me and got us to destination. I took the battery out and popped into a garage by the carpark top end of Polperro. They recharged it for me for 50p!! It kept us going until we got back home in Sussex when the battery finally gave up and so did the weather .Almighty thunder and lightning and downpours! Nice end to a scorchio week!
