Headhunter88
I read that US stopped production of Longbow Hellfire missiles in 2005. Could somebody confirm? If yes could anybody gave the reason? And for what purposes they use radars on AH-64's although they didn't use radar guided missiles?
Muzz
Is this possibly the original Hellfire missile that's stopped production as the Hellfire II is now in use which comes in 5 variants one of which being radar guided. Muzz
XV107
The AGM-114L contract was meant to see the last delivery of the contracted Longbow Hellfires in 2005 or early 2006 - but the FMS notification for the sale of AH-64 to India included over 800 AGM-114L-3 missiles when it came out in 2010 and the Israelis sought to by a couple of hundred in 2007. From memory, the Qataris have also at least sought to buy them as part of their AH-64 package.
junglierating
Agm 114L is a fire and forget weapon the longbow radar is used for target aqquision and surveillance. Thus giving longbow apache another option in addition to mpvns and mtads....IR and electroptics.it is fairly old now but is still pretty good and can do other stuff but I'm not prepared to say but most info is in the public domain if you wish to search. ....and yes apart from being a junglie I've worked apache too....and mighty Shar.
