Airfix Lightning F.6 1/48

Recommended Posts

Just finished this one today. First completion for 2017.

Paint was Vallejo Metal Colour over  gloss black. Decals are from the kit and, although very old, performed very well. Panel line wash was Flory Models dark dirt.

Hope you like.

Great model on a very nice display! What shade of the Vallejo paint did you use?

I used chrome, alluminium and duralluminium

That's absolutely brilliant! What a fun way to show the model off - I totally want to rip off that idea.

Also - very interested in the metal finish - looks superb. That is the Vallejo acrylic metal finishes? How were they to work with?

Thanks. The Vallejo metal Colour is fantastic IMHO. Sprays straight from the bottle and brush paints with ease also. Hard enough to mask in under 10 minutes..... I'm converted. Used to use Alclad for NMF but no more.

A truely inspiring and stunningly painted model.  I have found that the Vallejo Metal Colour paint really effective and easy to use with an air brush.  I love the way the model is mounted, very dynamic and allows the viewer to see the aircraft from either a top or bottom view.  Must start my Airfix F1A 1/48 in 56 Squadron colours.
