72modeler
Just stumbled onto this- anybody know the serial/codes/carrier? Looks like a neat modeling subject to me! Mike http://www.airvectors.net/avfyfly_06.jpg
Simon
It's from H.M.S. Victorious - there are more views on the IWM website, with some further details: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205119462# http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205141028 http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205141139 Looks like there was at least two more similarly decorated: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205185552# http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205141627 Simon
iang
I believe the 'Donald Duck' 809 Squadron Fulmar was coded 6H. There is another IWM photo that I have a print of that shows 6H parked forward and a motif is visible that is a good match for DD. I don't know the serial. RJP
Warpaint has the same picture captioned as X8559 of 809 Squadron on Victorious in 1942.
dogsbody
Both my Revell and Airfix 1/72 kits have nose art decals. Chris

With artwork that shows X8559 as 6J, not 6H. Another of 6J: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205141601 Looks like several of 809 were so adorned. 6H must be another mea culpa Edited January 1, 2017 by iang
72modeler
iang, RJP, Simon, and dogsbody, Bonus points and thumbs-up for your posts! Those are some neat-looking Fulmars! I have one of the Revell and original Vista boxings, but did not recall the markings on their decal sheets. Definitely a strong modeling possibility, using the SH kit. BTW, I almost hate to ask, but green-grey or sky for the wheel and flap bays and doors? Looks like too much contrast with the undersides for sky, but I'm a neophyte when it comes to Fulmars. Happy New Year to you, gents, and thanks for sharing! Mike Edited January 2, 2017 by 72modeler name added
