1/48 Spitfires, I know that I'm a serial starter...

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears,

Here's a first for me.... STRIIIIIPES !!!

WP_20170406_22_50_43_Pro

Definitely, I did'nt like that and I'm not very happy with my work,

To be disruptive, it actually is disruptive, it broke the appearance of the Aircraft that carry it.

But I definitely cannot make Spitfire until the 5th of june, moreover I have a Korean war Seafire so ...

WP_20170406_22_50_35_Pro

To my yesterday question...

I think that Hawker will be the next RFI but there are 2 contender for the next supermarine to get in the RFI.

So Caldwell or Johnson jr ??

In between there will be another pretty unusual subject for me.

Not a sailor, not a brit, but look like a '30 racer.

Have a nice day and take care of yourself.

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

Sunny Sunday, one can think of doing a little bit of a lizzard job.

So I install the deck chair on what the dogs left from my tiny grass patch.

Then I get a cold beverage and look what has happened in that 2' gap ??

WP_20170409_11_26_32_ProWP_20170409_11_26_23_Pro

The pleasure of a German Dogge !!

I'll get another chair out, knowing that kids will use it, and I'm back to my desk.

Finishing some job on the PC.

Have a nice sunny Sunday, see you later.

Sincerely.

Hello dears,

I changed my mind about exhaust, too late for the Eduard Mk VIII, I must find a way to rework my exhaust stacks

So this ICM Mk XVI will receive overtrees Eduard exhaust stacks for Mk XVI

WP_20170420_23_37_19_Pro

Just saw on the photo that I must clean up the gunsight's glass.

More to come soon.

Have a very nice day.

WP_20170428_22_24_37_Pro

WP_20170428_21_24_02_Pro

Hello DEARFFFF, no more teeth, fforry,

Here we go wifff the PR XIX

WP_20170507_21_02_21_Pro

Don't you worry, it is the usual grey green, it's fun how the light and the camera can alter the colour

WP_20170507_19_45_41_Pro

Oxygen bottles alone without any tubing, what is it good for ??

WP_20170507_19_45_04_ProWP_20170507_21_02_07_Pro

One can say, oh it look like a 1/48 castle Bromwich...

NO, it'is more Cunlife Owen, except for the future PR XI half fuselage.

See you later.

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

Here's what is happening when you buy swap kits !!

I bought a box with at least 2 complete ICM Spits but, no windscreen for the Mk XVI (The Mk VII is already in RFI)

Just as I was glad about my interior, look...

WP_20170508_20_41_17_Pro

As I was sanding the engine cowl, I think about installing the windscreen.

I searched a while but no, I have the rear part but no windscreen.

The eduard windscreen did'nt fit at all, think of the Otaki since the PR XI will have a Squadron one.

But nope again, searching in my Spitfire genuine parts store and found this...

WP_20170508_23_56_59_ProWP_20170508_23_57_08_ProWP_20170508_23_57_17_Pro

Lot of sanding ahead ...

But that's the best I have here,

This XVI is also a Frankenspit, ICM, Eduard and now Tamiya...

Let's see later..

Have a very nice styrene day

Sincerely.

The Spitery is still on its way,

The Mk VIII is on RFI and the first of the 3 Mk IX will soon go on RFI too,

WP_20170711_23_08_24_Pro

After Australia, let's go Canadian...

The next will be a Russian and the following one will be PINK !

Is there a difference in between the Spit's seat ?

WP_20170711_22_37_20_Pro

The white is doomed, thank ICM, I prefer my resin seat...

Okay Gents, have a nice day, tomorrow will be ... rainy !

Sincerely.

and the Mk XVI wich is go on at her pace !

WP_20170804_23_07_03_Pro

I modified the prop blades but the one of the ICM kit were way too bad, sink were hard to repair

AS i had the brengun ones, a little adaptation and Yoplaaa !

Then I get the XVI primed, see look way better than on the previous pics, No ?

WP_20170804_23_47_18_ProWP_20170804_23_47_34_Pro

Hoooops, I primed my hands too

WP_20170804_21_34_46_Pro

Then, I have a little relief, contemplating the other thing done this evening

Aaaaand a bit of morale support

WP_20170804_21_54_16_Pro

A blue Chimay and a Liège waffle peperred with Brown sugar, a little bit in the oven and :Tasty:

More to come soon on this Spitery, no Spiteries...

Have a good modelling day.

Yes indeed, but what a nightmare for the modellers :worry:

Luckily, these are not so tidy in the reality, hastily painted, so that's a kind of relief for us !

But IMHO, it broke the lines of the Aircraft

There are 2 other zebraes in the making, and the Tiffy is already in the RFI section.

Thank for the kind words.

Sincerely.

Looking ace, really enjoyed reading your thread. I'm looking forward to seeing how your PRXIX compares to mine, being on a larger scale. Are you going to ascribe her with 'the Last? ' or does your kit come with a decal for it?

Cheers, Michelle.

Hello Michelle,

Welcome aboard,

Yes, will make her as "The Last", in that box Airfix offer the last or a swedish one.

The Last seem "de rigueur" in my collection.

PS 888 was not really the last Spitfire to fly actually with the RAF since the BBMF still offer us a good feeling with their show

But she has been to fly an operational mission. I always loved the Recce Spitfire, I'm turning an old Otaki Mk VIII int a PR XI...

Lots of job but where will be the pleasure ??:D

You did great on your, congrats again !

Sincerely.

Lovely-looking Spitfires and 190 D9 there, CC :). The 190 looks like an Eduard kit judging by the olive green/brown plastic. Nice :).

I've got a large number of ICM 1/48 Spits squirrelled away, along with some Ultracast bits and pieces (mostly for Mk IX/VIII/XVIs), and have not been looking forward to the notorious sinkholes. I'd still rather have ten ICM Spitfires than one Hasegawa 'Mk IXc' - or whatever they though it was :rofl2:.

Cheers,

Alex.

Hello Alex,

I agree, the ICM are always kinda like a russian roulette ! some are pretty well moulded, some other are... Well they are !

But dimensions are right, I also have an Hasegawa, but no really pleasant and wrong, another cut and sand affair

I tried to sell her on evilbay, but lots of modellers know !

The Mk VII and XVI are ICM as is the Mk IX that will be pink !

There is 3 Eduards wich are the best ones IMHO, and easy to build.

Yes the D-9 is an Eduard one, will depict the late appearance of Dortenmann's machine

There also is D-11 and Ni Fi A-8, very good kit but not for begginers at all !

Don't know much ICM I get... sorry !

Thank for your support :worthy:

Hope we will have lot of fun in the future !

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

Let's have a last look at the interior before closing the fuselage,

WP_20170808_22_34_54_ProWP_20170808_22_35_37_Pro

I scratchbuilded a rack for the side camera, did'nt put it in since the PR rarely flown with all 3.

Last thing to add before buttoning the beast up, well, do not forget the wiring for the side camera CC

This is not lost for everyone since the device will be included in the ICM FR IX.

:speak_cool:

Have a nice modelling day, thank for watching and thank for your support !

Sincerely.
