Paul J
Hi All. Below I have posted a number of my old slides scanned in with my new toy. Wife present to me for Christmas. I selected a few at random and ended up scanning in around 20 boxes and all from 1983 / 84. Some juicy stuff I recorded from airshows at Mildenhall, Yeovilton and Biggin. I will post selected items here in this thread which I will re title when appropriate. A To start with some Gatwick shots. No real date time but around early 80s or maybe earlier or a tad later. But I must apologise for quality but I think its subject matter that will count. But I do have a lot of really nice ones! Civvy and Military! Mostly taken on my long gone Nikon FM. On delivery from F B-N to Middle east air arm. Note just visible on fin civvy reg or part of. Leased by Air Europe. Navion. Comets and Minerve Caravelle at end of line up
Paul J
Hi. Just before I turn for the night and get ready for work tomorrow, I thought I would post a few teasers of my Military selection. This little batch are from Mildenhall and I think it was 1978 because that was when the EC-121 last appeared over here. Enjoy: C-141A Starlifter CF-104D CT-133. Canberra T?? A-6E Intruder. EC-121 As I said, lots more goodies to come if you are interested. I have around 6000 to sort through. The ultimate aim is to dispose of them as I need to de clutter the house a bit....

oggy4624
nice trip down memory lane there! Keep them coming. I always remember the big orange going over the top in the early 80's and Arrow was a regular in Shannon I was going to buy the epson v700 but decided to go for the Nikon 60mm macro and the slide copier adapter, it worked out cheaper. It also copied the slides way quicker and gave more natural looking copies.

stever219
Thanks for sharing those mages. I'm a bit surprised at how big the Caravelle is compared to the Comet, even knowing that the former has the front fuselage of the latter. Your Canberra is actually a T. 17, converted from a B. 2. The Mk. 7 is a photo reconnaissance version.

mhaselden
Thanks for sharing those pics, Paul. What scanner are you using? I probably have some late-70s pics from Duxford and Newark that I'd like to digitize but I'm not sure what's the best scanner to use. Any advice would be very welcome. Cheers, Mark

The one I have got was from Maplins. As a Crimbo prezzie. The make is ION Slides Forever. It does 35mm slides( obviously) and 35 mm negatives. I have yet to try that part of it. Very easy to set up following the disk upload. Its quite basic but does the job I'll be posting a few more later this week.

Hi Paul if you want to get rid of the originals I bet you could sell them on ebay, even if you did them in batches for ease of disposal. I suggest (if you are not already doing this) keeping a copy of the origianl scan AND the 'cleaned up' version, as it's only some disc space. thank for sharing, great images cheers T
