roys
Faulty flaps, apparently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-38449058 Unusual fault? Interesting, checking the TU-154 out on wiki, as it has anhedral & poor lateral control. Edited December 28, 2016 by roys
Jure Miljevic
Anhedral should improve plane's initial response to ailerons. Apparently that is not enough. Any mentioning of a roll rate? Cheers Jure

Interesting, checking the TU-154 out on wiki, as it has anhedral & poor lateral control. Tupolev always seemed rather fond of anhedral whilst the rest of the world preferred dihedral (on low wing airliners at least). If, as suggested, it was an asymmetrical retraction of the flap or slats, that could easily be fairly terminal, fairly quickly if not spotted and isolated in some fashion. Even an early, unintended, retraction of either flap or slats could/would again be fatal if at too low a speed. Mind you, an answer within two days, particularly when the day before it was the pilot's (Captain's) fault, has to be taken with a ginormous pinch of salt.
