adey m
Father Christmas has just arrived at RAF Scarborough in a Wessex HC Mk 2 of 72 Squadron with presents for the base personnel children. His transport is the Alvis Salamander crash truck which will take him to the excited children at the Christmas party at the base NAAFI complex. DO ANY OF YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT MODELS THE WESSEX AND THE SALAMANDER ARE ? Cheers, Adey Edited December 22, 2016 by adey m

wamwig
At a rough guess I would say the Wessex is from Corgi and the Salamander is probably from the old BW Models range. There is though I believe a new 1/72 model of the Salamander (probably in 2017) due from Ace Models.

polo1112
Hello!! The Wessex is always a very surprising helicopter, but always a beautiful one. I think it has so many different noses, that you never know in advance which one it will bear! Your Wessex is so beautiful and so realistic,we think we just could embark. A really great job !!!

Ian Suds
Nice example of the Wessex. Not sure exactly where RAF Scarborough is. Do you purchase any of your models from P&S Hobbies & models? Boyes used to have some good stuff but on my last visit I noticed they have cut down on a fair bit.

Hi there Ian , glad you like the Wessex. RAF Scarborough is in my model room.............. Boyes tend to get end of line or surplus stock.....so once gone it is gone. P&S Hobbies have a good little model shop in Scarborough but I get most of my plastic models at the model shows I attend. Without letting on what model it is the Wessex and other models like it were obtained from a shop in Filey which is now no longer. you must have visited Scarborough ? cheers, Adey

Check out Santa's pose and let us know if you know which classic 1960s aircraft models he came out of. Good Luck friends, Adey

I love his beard btw. Great little dio. No idea about the fire truck but my guess for the Wessex is Corgi. Very interested to know where you sourced the control tower. Boyes were good for paints and the weathering filters were a bargain. cheers, Ian.
adey m
Okay guys here are the answers to the models identities. Those of you who said that the Wessex is a CORGI model are correct. I reworked it with improvements in the cockpit and cabin and added extra external bits. So wamwig, Scimitar, and Meatbox8 can reward themselves with an extra turkey stuffing ball at Christmas............. And the Alvis Salamander is indeed the BW Models white metal kit. So wamwig also gets an extra helping of brussel sprouts........... Thanks guys for being such good sports Merry Christmas to you all, Adey
