Williams Bros 1/32 Wedell-Williams 1932 Racer

#92 Miss New Orleans

This aircraft won a number of air races in 1932 including the Bendix trophy.

A great build, went together well considering the age of the kit, a bit of flash here and there.  OOB except for some lap belts.

really pleased with the paint, white is my least favorite colour to airbrush, used tamiyas gloss white, about 4 thin coats and sanded with micromesh between coats.

same with the black, came out well.

the canopy is slightly foggy, polished it etc. the decals are fine just a little yellowing.

rigged with EZ line.

really pleased with this one.

Nice build!!

How do you fix the rigging so neatly??

with patience!!!!   dill very small holes, and run the ez line through, i just fast superglue to fix, very small amounts. i will properly use about twice the amount ez line than i need as i will have to redo them once or twice.

That looks very purposeful with that meaty radial engine & striking B&W scheme!

Thanks for the info on your approach to the white paint, most useful as I'm just underway on a white air racer project myself.  Did you use a primer under the white? And if so, white or grey?

Very nice, well done, you can be justifiably proud!

to prime i just use a light grey and the lightly sand with micro mesh.
