planecrazee
Hi there folks I'm back with another of my most recent builds - seem to have managed to get on with quite a few lately - must be the Christmas spirit I'm posting this one first but there will be more to follow very shortly. The kit in question is this one: Considering I'm such a fan of Luftwaffe aircraft, I've never built a 109 (I know - I can't believe it either!!!!) up until now and chose this kit as a test bed and a practice for more to follow, particularly the Airfix 1/48 109 I have in the stash. I built the kit pretty much OOB with just the addition of some tamiya tape belts and the odd scratch built item - nothing spectacular. I know this kit is not the best representation of a 109 but it's details weren't too bad and it went together pretty nicely. I do have aftermarket swastika decals but I completely forgot for some reason to add these to the tail - doh!! By the time I realised it wouldn't have worked to add them so they'll just have to stay omitted and be a learning curve for next time!! Anyway, without wasting anymore time talking, the pics are below - as always please let me know what you think - comments are always welcomed Edited December 19, 2016 by planecrazee
Rich G
I think you've done a really good job, the paintwork is really good for a 1/72 109, the mottling looks spot on. Rich

vppelt68
Good looking G-10! The Revell kit is in my opinion a lot better that its reputation, and I enjoyed building one. Regards, V-P

doozer1974
Very nicely done, especially for that scale, which I struggle to work with. Airfix's more recently tooled 109s are great kits, you should enjoy building that one from your stash!
planecrazee
Thanks doozer - yeah I'm looking forward to the Airfix kit - I'll keep you posted in the group build with my progress on that one next year
GREG DESTEC
Excellent. Love the subtle paint chipping on the leading edges and the prop blades.
planecrazee
Thanks for the feedback greg. I like my aircraft to be weathered albeit not over the top - think it just helps with the realism as they were never made to be showroom showpieces
glatisant
Nice build.Have built a few of them myself, and they turn out quite nice. It's a good kit in that it's easily available, and not too pricey.Your paint job is to be commended!

Bangor Lad
Very impressive. You've made an excellent job of the mottled finish.
pheonix
Have to sound like an echo but your painting is superb. Very subtle but not overdone and in this scale not easy to get right - but you certainly have! P
Meatbox8
Great paintwork and a beautifully delicate aerial fit.
planecrazee
Thanks for all your comments on the paint finish guys - this is actually the first time I've tried the mottle finish on a Luftwaffe aircraft so this was a bit of a test bed really. WildeSau75
If this is how your test beds look like, I want to see your other builds! Love this one - really great painting. Cheers, Michael

Darby
That's a rather nice little number. I've wanted to do this one again but last time I got one the canopy was cloudy and rough and put me off sadly. This was before I knew about the Revell spares department. planecrazee
To be fair Darby, the canopy on this one was ok - not perfect but ok and was not so bad as to obscure the view of the cockpit - hopefully you'll pick this one up again and have the spares department on speed dial if necessary
Andy Dyck
You made an absolutely gem out of it. Your paintjob and weathering is perfect! Love it! Looking forward to see more of your fleet. Maybe you can improve your photography a little bit, top models need top presentations. Hope you don't mind when I say these critics. It is only my poor personal meaning. But I think it is worth for your stunning models! All the best Andy
