I too am using Flightpath Paveway 2's & Model Alliance decals but mine will be in flight with a custom made pilot. The Paveways are beautiful, the decals not so great. They are the LAU-5002 and 5003 rocket pods. Both used according to Belcher Bits for CR5 and CR7. Mentioned this as on the packet it says for CF5 weapons. I got my from Aviation Megastore. To embarrassed to say how much I paid mostly delivery. But I did ask Belcher for a quote unfortunately they were slow and came back with a quote to late. Also as just a few days into it I can see it is complex. Worrying as apart om looking at a Harrier have to admit not knowing much about them. Although that seems to be changing by the hour. But finished recently the Hasegawa Seaking, simple, but not when you add David Parkin's Flightpath PE (hardly PE more like thick metal) which is very complex indeed . (I can't work out how to link directly to the page as his site does some fancy frames stuff.) Although it was done a while a go, it's an excellent model and has lots of pointers to the potential pitfalls around assembly of the deck/engine access panel area. Another essential resource is the Harrier SIG run by Dave and his merry men. Nick Greenall did some indispensable guides of how to build a Harrier in 1:48, 1:72 etc which are well illustrated with high quality pictures & diagrams. Be careful though. Harriers are addictive. Kirk PS/ There is a new seat in all that resin isn't there? Base kit only provides the US Stencel seat and not the M-B Mk.12. xffw45343tg Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Just a couple of observations Laurie (which are largely criticisms of the aftermarket stuff and not your modelling): The cockpit sidewall as supplied is missing a couple of vertical "frames" (I put these in inverted commas because they are not really structural as such) and the right side cockpit conditioning system vent. The photo etch floor detail is made up. The real thing has a single reinforced join line offset to the left of centre (I call it the Suzanne Vega strip) and a quite large bulged cover to the roll actuator under the pilot's right calf. All this is invisible with the pilot in place of course... The display screens in the photo etch show the weapons display (the image that it roughly like an aircraft wing) and the radar display - which was not applicable to the radar-less UK aircraft. Nose wheel bay is much too shallow - although the detail is kinda OK. The circular "blob" on the left hand side of the seat bulkhead is a pressure regulator vessel. It sticks out quite a bit and is gloss black in finish. The connectors on its forward face are much too small to model but are natural metal finish (alloy I think) Your seat harness extension should run from the obvious place on the shoulders to the green back pad. There are then a couple of thin blue webs which run to and from a rectangular-ish block close to the edges of the tubular assembly just below the parachute box. (This is the harness retraction unit.) Please feel free to ignore all this. I'm just chipping in on behalf of the (fictitious) Harrier Pedants' Society. Your model will look quite superb without attending to any of this but I don't want to find out when it's too late if these are the sort of things you like to tweak. I am on a mission to produce a diorama with all UK military equipment and aircraft used. About two thirds through. About 10 out of 16 plus a diorama to finish. During the Falklands war I listened with trepidation to all that was going on. The Pilots with there little aircraft did a fantastic job and all off a Carrier. One a very small one.
