Vadim
Hello everyone, After my last 7-months build in 1/32 scale I decided to do something really easy... And I think this Airfix Club kit should be a good stress relief I will build a Sea Hurricane first, straight out of the box and closed canopy. The kit provides two sets of wings thus different Hurry versions can be built. The instruction explains only a carrier based version (Sea Hurricane), so a section of both fuselage halves requires cut off to fit an arresting hook mechanism: The interior is very basic but should not be a problem as I don't plan to leave it opened: Everything fits really well though some putty will be needed around arresting hook and for those nasty deepenings behind the wing... Howlindawg
Two of my favorite aircraft. Enjoy!
Vadim
The build goes really well. All the parts fit nicely and easy. It is just pure pleasure so far! It looks no filler or sanding is required as wing root connection is nearly perfect: I love my kids' toys I always borrow some foam bricks or prisms to keep my models or its parts in place when necessary:
Vadim
Another short update: It seems that even for stress relief I need some filler and sanding... I always try to do something new and this time it was Vallejo acrylic putty. I have to admit it's quite handy especially on this scale. Easily removed all the excess with wet cloth and it looks great! (it's not an advert ) Now: - all the seams are sanded, - all the gaps are filled and sanded, - cockpit and wheel wells are masked, - panel lines are re-scribed where necessary. Ready for the first coat of primer

Vadim
Merry Christmas to everyone! Here are some pictures of the progress I made over the last week. All the problematic areas were treated with putty and sanded. A primer was applied: Then I made a pre-shading with black along the panel lines and then some random spots with grey: - In the mean time - propeller was painted: Also, I started to mask a canopy: Finally, I applied first coat of Revell 59 Sky: Edited December 25, 2016 by Vadim
Vadim
Hi All Here are some photos of sausaging :))) This is all the masking when removed: Now Hurricane is ready for decals. Also I found some good reading about hurri (while reviewing old stock magazines):

AdrianMF
Looks smashing so far. It's nice to have a simple or different build from time to time. Regards, Adrian

Drift
That is stunning. I am also busy with the Hurri. and as you, needed some filler for the wing joints. Put it aside now.
Vadim
Chipping is nearly done. Thanks to a good reference photo the final result should be good. I hope
Squibby
Nice work with the hurricane so far. No doubt the chipping will be great when you're done. Never seen a Hurricane wearing US markings, it's a very interesting scheme you're building there.
Vadim
Hi all Today a three additional oil coloures have arrived (blue, yellow, and earth) and finally I can start a weathering... Random oil drops... are blended with a slightly moistured (white spirit) brush: A good colour variation is expected It's still a new technique for me but I like this artistic process. It delivers an element of unpredictability and randomnicity in a final colour appearance.

Vadim
@Val, @The Spadgent, @Squibby Thank you for your kind words. Here are some pictures of "unrealistically" hard weathered Hurricanes These are not pictures of a Sea Hurricane I build. However these give an idea of a way weathering could happen and of those most weathering prone areas...
Vadim
It's a real pain to paint this crazy canopy without precutted mask... Finally here is the last step
Vadim
Well... As this is a 'stress relief build' - I consider this one is done! It was a good weathering exercise again... And apart from some minor defects (like clean tyres and awful spinner) I think the result is quite good (excuse my overconfidence): Now I got a small collection of 1/72 Red Noses: Now, before I get to some 1/48 in my stack, I have to finish the second one from the Sparks of Liberation box - Fairey Swordfish: For those who are interested here are all the sprues: This promise to be another interesting build as I never did biplane and rigging before...
