S5 modeller
Hi chaps. Don't know if you've seen this, but DeAgostini is starting a 1:2 scale r2-d2 partworks. https://www.deagostini.com/uk/collections/build-your-own-R2-D2/ Looks impressive. R0ver
It does look impressive. I've never gone for one of these subscription-based models but this one is tempting. Over how many issues is something like this typically spread?
Mike
I'd love to, but I won't Does that "free" gift Threepio look a bit like he's had his head in a vice?
S5 modeller
Not sure how many issue's it's over, but you can bet it's a few. I also would like to know how much each issue is going to cost. You can bet the £2.98 price tag will only be for the first few issues. Got to be expensive, as the dome for the head is in one piece, and it's metal.
Mike
It's all about what it's worth to you in the end. If you think it's super-fabby marvellous, then it's worth the money. If you think it's a silly toy, then walk away chunnering, but to yourself. If you'd like one, but can't afford it, just sigh winsomely
S5 modeller
Sighing winsomely will be my response. If I hadn't just financed a new car, I would have it. Mind you it would be a battle between this, and the bttf delorean.

S5 modeller
That's a bit steep, if you ask me.
Richard Baker
It is not just a model, it is a functioning machine with mobility and a bunch of cool features that work.

Ah, but is it one of the droids that we're looking for? For £900, it would have to cook dinner, peel grapes and do housework for me to be in any way interested.
Mike
Ah, that's extra!
Blastvader
I've got to say, it is somewhat tempting but not at nearly £40 per month. If iIwere willing to give up most of my modelling budget for the next two years or if the Mrs. had finished her teacher training and effectively doubled our income it might be another story though. One thing about these part works is that you can sometimes find part completed runs on eBay for a pittance allowing you to pick up from where they left off or just order the relevant issues.
