Sid de Koning
My new project is a bit more colorful.. Maestro, I decided not to use this.. life's all about choices.. easy, this one.. although I ended up using a Quickboost seat with belts already fitted.. not the correct IP for a Danish RF-35.. a piece of plastic to allow better fit.. XMM Air intakes with Fan, just because one can.. Seat in Alclad 101.. Eduard Color Self Adhesive PE.. tainted to a darker and better looking dark green FS34079.. first colors.. seat is finished.. cockpit is now dull.. with some scratched cameras inside.. droptanks in progress.. resin intakes, a moderate amount of TLC required.. this antenna was not on a Danish RF, another one was, supplied by Hasegawa too.. the gun bay inserts didnt quite fit, probably because of the resin intakes or my fault.. extra work.. a shear-out lock made from copper wire.. the wing can be made to fit very nicely! the vertical stabilizer doesnt quite fit perfectly.. typical RF nose with 6 scratched cameras.. I love this shape! I dropped the nose on the floor.. the hardest to reach cameras needed to be glued again..l I broke open the nose carefully.. good, this will fit later.. WIP.. some additional work on the gear.. you get the picture.. made from brass wire this time.. et voila.. still not to my liking.. neither are the gun bay inserts.. after some CA glue/talcon powder and TLC..better!..
Nicke06
Very nice RF 35. Check your main canopy. The one you have on the pictures are for the Swedish S 35E and was not used by the Danes. Nicklas Karlén IPMS Sweden
Sid de Koning
Indeed! This one is just to close the cockpit for airbrushing.
Nicke06
OK, I had that possibility in my mind too. I didn’t believe that you would make a so simple mistake when you have all the references you need. Keep posting pictures of this, I like it. CurrantBunbury
Very nice. I love the look of the Draken - built one myself recently, but not to this standard!
Andrew
Thanks for sharing the pics of your lovely build; the Draken is such an intriguing design - it still looks futuristic today! I really like the work you've done in the cockpit area, particularly the rods under the windscreen. I'm looking forward to the next instalment. Nicke06
One thing you can ad to your kit is the small box for store safety pins on the inside door of the left main landing gear. This box is only found on the danish Draken. Nicklas
exdraken
that is very impressive work! your cockpit looks fantastic!! how is the fit of the full length intakes? they look tempting Edited December 8, 2016 by exdraken

Jens
Very nice progress! Please note that the Aires main wheels are the incorrect type for Danish Drakens. There are some general and detail Draken pictures on my website here:http://www.amarc.dk/index.php/gallery-mainmenu-31/27-jet-aircraft-pictures HTH, Jens

Sid de Koning
Thanks gentlemen! What a wonderful site Jens, thanks. I have to check the wheels again, but glancing over them, I can't find the difference easy.. anything in particular to look for you know of? Your fellow Dane, Per Madsen, also mentioned another lovely site about Dynamite 6-1: http://esk729.dk/esk729.dk/Dynamite_6-1_VM_86.html#9 Thanks! I did note the Danish version of the Safety Pins Storage box, that is one of the smaller differences between a Swedish and Danish Draken. I made it. The fit of the XMM intakes is -resin in mind- rather good. Although fit would benefit from scraping away some plastic on the inside of the wing where the ducting wil be. You can easily bend the resin into shape after putting it in boiling water, but this easily spoils the inside contours of the ducts. Though I now know not a lot can be seen inside anyway.. Getting used to Tamiya's new flexible tape.. Like Santa, checking everything twice.. with Mr.Color 327 airbrushed on.. I am happy.. From Per's site one can see the red and white paint being paint rolled on.. it was not at all very consistent.. I have decided NOT to replicate that particular feature. What i do want to do is have that matt appearance of the red and white contrasting with a glossy green underside. I think I will finish the top side first, with decals and all, matt coat it, tape it all in and only then do the lower side. This glossy green will also do as basecoat for any Alclad2 I need later on. Easier this way I presume.. Bjorn
Looking very, very good! Since this is such a well-detaliled build, here is another rivet-counter-remark: The Danish Drakens had slightly different landing lights compared to the Swedes (that are in the box). And the bad fit of the gun bay inserts are not because of the resin air intakes - it is always that bad...
exdraken
very very nice! as to the wheels: the recent Eduard boxing has both styles inlcuded: https://www.eduard.com/store/eduard/draken-1-48.html great build! have to look into this felxible Tamiya tape myself! Sid de Koning
I am starting to see the difference in wheels now.. there is a minor? change in hub on the outside and the brakes on the other side.. As for the nosewheel, Aires didnt have this in their set, but Hasegawa supplies both. Anyone out here, who just built the Eduard Draken in a Swedish version and has the resin Danish wheels/brakes for sale? Please drop me a line.. Indeed the lights are slightly different, less 'square'. Unfortunately I didn't correct these.. with the Maestro Models decals applied.. and some homemade Slime Lights, because Eduard's parts are longer than either Hasegawa's or Maestro's decals.. After one coat of Alclad2 313 Matt Clear..

Sid de Koning
With Mr. Color 309 FS34079.. Decals sprayed over with Alclad2 Gloss 600.. But can hardly be noticed any more.. NACA ducts hand painted with Humbrol and just a little lighter than FS34079.. After airbrushing Mr.Color 2 Gloss Black this happened.. never before.. Several Alclad2 metal paints with a black Vallejo wash.. mr.paint tyre black.. Wheels turned out okay, I think. Eduard's wheels from their limited kits..
