Graham Boak
What is it supposed to be for? That assumes, of course, that it is intended to be a specific shade rather than just a generic light grey.
Black Knight
Its a generic light grey. Airfix sometimes advises its use instead of 64, which is sometimes advised instead of MSG

Andrew
Hi Graham, I was always of the understanding that Humbrol 196 is intended as a match for the modern German colour RAL7035 Lichtgrau, which is why I bought a tin or two many years ago; I was suitably convinced when I first tried it. Sadly, I have nothing authoritative to back this claim today but hope that it might prove useful all the same. cheers, Andrew.
Graham Boak
Thanks: whatever the reason I had for buying it, it wasn't to match a modern Lichtgrau. Perhaps it will dawn on me just what the reaon was: sleep is supposed to be good for this. I do remember using 64 for just about everything I now know it wasn't right for, but it was the only convenient light grey. Nowadays we're spoilt for choice. Edit: perhaps it is suitable for the very light late-war RLM76 for nightfighters? Given the lack of precision inherent in that colour, it'll probably do nicely. I know that this wasn't the reason I bought it, but it'll do. Edited December 4, 2016 by Graham Boak
