Nocoolname
Hi folks! Although I like the SU-27 I've not been a huge fan of the standard Russian colour schemes. Does anyone know of any Russian 27's that have sported a 'splinter' scheme? I've seen the Ukraine version and I'm tempted to do one of those but that leaves one kit spare which I would really like to make as a Russian variant. Google searches have thrown up some great looking Russian schemes but they appear to be CGI rather than the real deal and I've struggled to find evidence of any real life Russian 27's sporting such. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. Cheers Nocool...
mungo1974
Nope i think all the Russian Splinter jets have been the Sukhoi demo Su-30/35/37 aircraft. So i think your looking at the Ukrainian scheme or the 2 Ex- Ukr jets sold to Eritrea https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/30572475563/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/30572472013/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31264849981/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31379874525/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31010631100/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31010627170/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31235909022/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31010622770/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/30558277894/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31380483935/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/134371867@N03/31265381261/in/dateposted-public/ Edited December 2, 2016 by mungo1974
Nocoolname
Thanks Mungo. Definitely going for a Ukranian build and have the Begemot set to support this. Might still dress the other in the splinter scheme above but with Russian markings or else apply a 35 scheme to it.
Hook
I'm not sure of your preferred scale, but RoG's 1/72nd Hasegawa rebox has pretty fetching markings for an Ukrainian splinter. Cheers, Andre
Nocoolname
Thanks Andre 48 is my scale for fighters but I looked at something similar to what you described and umed and arred over it before settling on Unkranian splinter. At least until I saw the digital version. Then I started uming and arring again
mungo1974
Foxbot decals from the Ukraine do a set of masks/decals for the Digi Flanker scheme
Flankerman
I've done it in 1/72 scale - using the Trumpeter Su-27 and Authentic Decals (matched to AKAN paints)..... Unfortunately, I think they only do it in 1/72 scale. Ken
