First AFV: Tamiya 1/48 Japanese Navy Komatsu G40

I was quite surprised that no one seemed to have built it before, because it is quite small and, hopefully, straightforward. I have no master plan of type, but seem to end up with dinosaurs and now small afvs... I know that planes are almost certainly a no go area, for many reasons, but it all depends on what I come across! :)

Mrs. P, I think that you will enjoy this one. I did one a while ago for my very first armor build and it turned out pretty good. I think that it may still be on the RFI armor section somewhere.

Cheers Bob, I managed to find your post and have a look, it was the only one that still had photos, the other people who've made the kit have no longer got live links. It's great to see one that's complete and so good.

I'm hoping to get on with the build soon, now Mr P has got his current GB out of the way... He's been hogging the kitchen for weeks!

I've finally managed to get a little bit done this morning, and I do mean a little! - Having said that it was incredibly fiddly and annoying, but eventually it fitted okay...

I've just realised that these now look like black and white photos...Oh well,

I hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays and that :santa:  brought you all the kits you wanted!  I also hope that you will have a peaceful New Year! - Mrs P.

Great detail painting, Mrs. P

Did you say figure painting? :coolio::Tasty:  Have you been caught by the Dark Side of the force?  Beware, because it's highly addictive

Ciao

These are photos of the early stages of weathering:I don't want to over weather as I've had a mad idea of creating a diorama featuring - wait for it - a plane... so the 'dozer will still be fairly new and not totally decrepit.

I was given a crash course in techniques by Stix... first pale runs for water, differing shades of rust on suitable areas and then endless layers of extremely watered down Dark Earth to build up a 'dust/dried mud' effect.

Here are photos of it on Stix's Spitfire dio base, I've added mud - can't remember what it's called, but he uses it on his tanks... I also put some oil effects on as well.

It needs the driver added and a few other tweaks...

very very nice... would love to see your work on the DOOBI - even bigger bulldozer... oh and of course your 'dozer suits the base a lot more that Mr Stix hurri ever did ;-)

Cheers Rob, it's only my second build of something that's not a dinosaur! - so quite a steep learning curve....I was really pleased with the effect of it on grass too!

That looks really impressive. I'm sure you could put it on a diorama with a T-Rex crashing out of the trees. After all....it is Japanese!

John.

actually the dio will (hopefully) include my first ever plane build a Zero, if I can pluck up the courage to try! Otherwise I have got a T-Rex in the stash...:hmmm:

WOW !! It looks like you jumped way ahead of me in the weathering department already. I really like the slight texture that you added to your dozer. I wasn't nearly as brave on mine. I opted for the dusty look. WELL DONE !!               Bob H.
